Finally pics of the turbo setup! 56k=make lunch

yeah, on my turbo, there is a nipple right on the compressor housing for the vac line for the wastegate. there is a boost controller in between now, 9psi is mighty fine, lol. any other questions or comments, dont hesitate to post!!

Ok, got another. How does the boost controller work if the wastegate is set to know when to open for proper boost?

I'm still new at all this myself, but I believe the boost controller keeps the wastegate closed until it hits the specified amount of boost, ie. 9psi in his case. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, lol.

the boost controller restricts the amount of boost the wastegate can see. in other words, if 9psi of boost is goin threw the boost controller, it only allows the wastegate to see 7, which is what it is set at. that way, the wastegate thinks that it is openin at the right time.

I've read that thread, and commented a little. But how lean is lean before boost. You are going to fluctuate between 14.5-15.5 sometimes a little higher even. But if you are consistently in the 16's that probably isn't good.

So a boost controller is required when turboing a vehicle?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding this. The boost gauge is set to 9psi and the wastegate is set to 7, so the wastegate won't open prematurely?

So if the wastegate will open at 7psi does that not mean the car is boosting to only 7psi? Because I thought the wastegate opens when it hits the max boost the spring is set to......

no a boost controller is not required to boost a car, its only required to raise boost. you can get a wastegate with a variety of differnet springs, which each spring is set to a differnet psi. instead of buying new springs to up the boost, you buy a boost controller and set it and forget it!
jeph- yeah i have seen you have posted in the other thread. i know the af will flucuate at idle and driving, but mine was always a consistently between 14.4 and 14.9 almost all the time when not in boost. now, i am between 14.3 and 15.4 with the vac line off of the fuel pressure regulator. with the vac line on, my idle af is high 16,s low 17,s and i know that aint good at all. still hopin that the fuel pump is goin out and that the filter is clogged, thats why with more fuel pressure, more gas is gettin through the filter.... at least thats what im hoping!
thanks about the white car. i too have always wondered why mazda never made a white msp, i think it would look AMAZING!!!
