no a boost controller is not required to boost a car, its only required to raise boost. you can get a wastegate with a variety of differnet springs, which each spring is set to a differnet psi. instead of buying new springs to up the boost, you buy a boost controller and set it and forget it!
jeph- yeah i have seen you have posted in the other thread. i know the af will flucuate at idle and driving, but mine was always a consistently between 14.4 and 14.9 almost all the time when not in boost. now, i am between 14.3 and 15.4 with the vac line off of the fuel pressure regulator. with the vac line on, my idle af is high 16,s low 17,s and i know that aint good at all. still hopin that the fuel pump is goin out and that the filter is clogged, thats why with more fuel pressure, more gas is gettin through the filter.... at least thats what im hoping!
