fighting wheel hop

i recently was given a 2005 mazda 3 5-door. Its a 5-speed and i'm wondering why for the life of me i cannot make it spin tires. all it will do is hop and maybe squeal a little. someone brought up the idea that maybe my tires are so new that they just are gripping the ground really good. anyone have any ideas?

it's the motor mounts...porteges have the same problem...weak motor mounts make for less engine vibration but causes the engine/tranny to life under heavy acceleration and causes the axle-hop.

Wait for someone to create some polyeurethane motor mounts and then buy those. They are a HUGE improvement in the proteges

damn that sucks. i'm not allowed to mess with my 3 until the warranty is up. (100,000 miles). so the bottom line is i can't do burnouts?

you should know the first rule of mazdas is that you don't have a warranty until they fix something for free.....If you have to rely on the warranty to fix your car you shouldn't mod it.

i'm not relying on the warranty. its that i was told not to do anything to void it. (car was a gift) i did all my own modding on my focus and it never broke down from the mods. only from my over torqueing of bolts. (i learned my lesson and bought a torque wrench right before i sold the focus)

i was being too harsh on the 3. i've since driven alot of miles on it and now it will burn out with minimal wheel hop.

I could not see how motor mounts would cause any problems with getting warranty work done on your car except for vibrating stuff loose......the AWR's for the protege casue a lot of vibration; even with just the front in but helps out a lot with engine lash and wheel-hop......

Why are you abusing your car like that? I don't get it.
