Black MPV
I'm looking at buying a 6s hatch and the wife and I are agreed on buying a 5spd manual.

The problem is they are hard to find. I have only found 1 new in Northern New England and the dealer is a bit of a dick. I have been avoiding the 5spd auto because of the shift shock/reliability issues.

I have a 03 MPV (3l w/5spd, 110k) and believe the only reason the tranny has held out is because of the additional transmission cooler that was part of the towing package.

My question: Should I consider the new 6spd auto? I love 3 pedals and the extra control that comes with it but I'm also a cheap ass and a nearby dealer has an 06s Hatch auto in decent shape.

Thanks
I want the hatch because of the extra cargo versatility. The wagon is too close to the minivan. I think the sedan will be a bit tight to work

welcome to the boards.

you should be fine with the auto transmission. its not going to give you more hassle than any other auto transmission on the market. i personally like my manual trans, but thats for driveability, not fears of reliability. it really comes down to what options you have available in your area.

I have and 06 Mazda6 wagon with the 6Speed auto, it works great, no problems.

mind you i only have under 7k KMs on the car.

Thanks guys

I've located a couple of 6s 5doors with the manual. Now it's a matter of getting the dealer to move on their price. They all think that the rebate alone is enough to move me. I'm thinking I should be able to get close to invoice and then take the rebate.

That is unless the Speed3 doesn't suck me in.
