FD's on Proteges Club

that broze looks great. i've been thinking about doing my FD's that exact colour on my silver P5. not sure if i'll go through with it though.

and do you have extended studs? i found with my 6mm spacers i was really pushing it, so i just run 3mm all around. 8mm seems a bit much. i run 6mm on my steelies in the winter but they leave more threads than my FD's it seems.

Thanks. I was wary about going bronze as I had bought silver wheel paint as well to refinish them but after painting on wheel bronze as a test, I fell in love with it.

No I don't have extended studs. Using 8mm spacers actually provided a lot of thread to grab on too. I believe I read on here that 8mm was the limit as well and I am confident they will hold great. With steel wheels you will get more grab on the threads for sure. Being a steel wheel it will be thinner/stronger than the aluminum in turn providing more thread to stick out and grab on too.

so how brittle is the brittle version exactly... im considering selling my wheels and picking up a set but they are non reinforced

the "brittle" version would break on a stock FD, which is why mazda replaced them on the later models with the "reinforced" version. the FD weighed about the same as a 3rd gen protege, but also had more power. the tires were a little bigger, too, and the wheels still cracked under hard conditions. the difference in wheel weight is very slight (13lbs vs 16lbs - still light for 16x8's), so i would only consider the "brittle" version as a street set for a late model MX5 and not a protege. but, that's just my opinion.

Well I don't know about not considering them for a protege as I have been running the "brittle" set since February and have had no problems what so ever, I do only DD my P5 though. I even had one repaired which only had minor road rash. I am considering replacing the wheels as I want something a bit more aggressive though.

Here is where I am at so far with it. I want to go at least 1-1.5 lower though.

put my new shoes on finally wrapped in 215-40-16 yokahama s-drives

You know I tried searching for maybe a build thread but what are you lowered on?

edit: Never mind I found your specs in the slammed thread.....

The other day I had my car packed going to lunch and man I loved how my wheels tucked. No rubbing what so ever though but I loved the look of being lower on these wheels.

is there like a official title for the fd rims so i can use that as keywords to search, u know like the msp ones are Racing hart 17x7 or whatev.

Nope just FD wheels.
not too many 16x8 OEM mazda wheels (those are probably the only ones) they can be a pain in the ass to find. I was looking for a set back when i had a car that was 5x114.3
