FC 86' Starts but dies

As title says. I am planning to get this FC but its at the cost of about $600 (boom06) (since my last deal with another FC was burn deal) Do you guys think this is a major problem?

Ok checked the car out today. It actually doesn't start but it sounds like it wants to. Could really smell the fuel. He only cranked it for a few seconds. Interior is pretty imaculate regarding the seats and carpet. Radio and aircon are missing some stuff though. Has small rust where you open the door right next to the aircon vents. And under the fender. Body is a bit mix matched. But for the most part its red. Im pretty satisfied with the amount of rust on it because I havent seen too many like this here in Guam. Gonna have to pull $700 out of my ass. But any one have ideas about the engine problem? Oh yea engine has 70k miles on it.

I think as long as you checked compression and it is good on all faces it rules out any major money pit job. 700 is a steal for an rx7 whose owner doesn't know how to get it started. 700 is 200 over market value for a blown motor in a car

(werd) Im w/ melicha on this one. Sounds like its just nicely flooded or needs some new plugs. If compression is good go for it.

Yup she was flooded. I got her now. But it only idles at 700 rpm even at cold start. She idles and then dies after a few seconds when cold. Once its warm I had it stay on for about 5 minutes before it died out. Also tried revving a little when it got warm and it can go up to 1500-2000 then it bogs and starts to misfire(tach needle drops and picks up like crazy.) Also there is some sort of smoke coming out of the rear of the engine bay when its idling decently. Haven't had time to check it yet. But its not too much smoke but it is visible.

*throttle position sensor Needs replaced/adjusted
*Check/clean spark plugs

As far as the smoke, it could mean several things. What color is it? Does it have a sweet smell to it?

Its white smoke but not thick smoke. Just enough to see during the day time. It might be coming from the precat cus theres some a small hole in it with some packing showing. It smells like some sort of paper burning not regular paper, but i smelt something similar to it but i forgot what it was.

I think the grass under my car was the thing that was burning =\ Caught fire last night almost burned my car. We now moved the car to the carport. Changed out the ecu and now it idles way way better... well actually I had to adjust the timing too becuase it couldnt rev pass 3000 sounded like rev limiter hehe. I can actually drive it now but it stalls especiallly when it gets hotter.. There is some oil leaking from either the oil filter oil pan or block >.< Thats it for noww.(rei)
