Fast Idle - 1990 Protege

The idle on my 1990 Protege is way to high. I tried turning the set screw at the end of the cable and it did not help- also worked it with some PB Blaster to get any gunk out of there.. Also, I took off what I think was the throttle position sensor to access a heater hose. It happened after that. What is odd is that there are two screws and slots to adjust the TPS, but it is having no effect on the idle when I loosen the screws and slide the TPS.. I'm confused on this one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

ther is a idle adjustment screw on the throttle body, dont adjust the cables..this will work if its a little high, up to 1000rpm...on mine i think the air idle controller valve got stuck open and it was like 4000rpm..... so what i did readjusted the throttle body door so that it shuts all the way and adj the idle srew till it was normal... drove the car like that for a few years before i sold it.. send me pics of your throttle body and ill show you where the screw is if you cant find it..

Check the bellows on the intake hose. Cracks tend to develop and cause a vac leak.
