Fan noise from rear 4 or 5 hours since driven

Went out into my garage tonight and heard a noise like a small fan running. I traced it to the rear of my MS3, which hadn't been running for 4 or 5 hours. I remember reading about the car doing things while it's "off", but can't find the info now. What would it have been?

I turned the key to ACC and then off and the "fan" stopped.

Well, isn't the only thing in the back which could even sound like a fan, the low pressure fuel pump in the tank? Maybe there's an after market amplifier back there which has a bad cooling fan?

I don't have any aftermarket equipment. I heard the sound up under the rear bumper area. Does the car run the low pressure fuel pump when it's off? I don't think there is anything wrong necessarily, I'm just curious what sorts of stuff my MS3 does when it's turned off.

Normally a few clicks and whirs from the engine bay, but they never last more than a few seconds after shut down. I've never heard mine make any type of noise from the rear when it's sitting still. Don't know why the fuel pump would run after the key is turned off.

I once read a nice summary of everything the car does after you turn it off, but I can't find it again. Some of the things were after 15 or 20 minutes, others I think were hours later.
