ENGINE MISS PROBLEM......
Hi,
I have a JDM '98 Familia (BJ5 SP20 shape, bt the 1.5 dohc, vvt) and if you put ya foot down it has a real flat feel to it, a general missing sound to the exhaust note and just no acceleration until the revs get up( its usual pretty pepy) and only happens some times. It back fires every now and then and Im pretty sure I heard a "pop" for the air box (I have removed all the factory plastic piping so just the air box remains). also has the coil per 2 cylinder setup which I dont know much about (Im old school, dizzy caps and carbs)
So to Me I think Its a firing problem which in turn could be the coils or ...? Ive also pulled the spark plug out and they are spotless.

Any suggestions? Is this a common problem?

Cheers, Paul

But honestly, try finding the right section....you'll get much more help.

By common problem do you mean posting in the completely wrong section of a forum? If so, then yes, it's very common.

Well thanks for nothing, but to me An Engine problem is an engine problem.
And I couldnt find my excate sub forum. Maybe to could direct me to the right place instead of taking the piss. Dicks.

just grab the forum mods to toss it to the right place if they can.
to help, check your coils, bad coils leads to a fuzzy spark and doesnt really give any power till all of a sudden, pm if you have any more questions.

Thank you, we dont have protege's over here. (smash) and no black smoke, just runs and sounds like crap.

Probably an ignition problem then...I thought maybe you had an injector sticking open, but you would see a bunch of black smoke if it was running really rich. I'm not familiar enough with that engine to be able to recommend anything else, though...sorry.

well to people in the MS3 forum, a MS3/MS6 motor problem, isnt like a backhoe engine problem. when looking for help being a little nicer and doing some research might be the key to find out what your looking for.

i dont post my car problems in an evolution or subby forum because they would tell me to go to the right forum for the right help.

so......(lick)

moved to the right forum. He already created another thread about this here but i couldnt merge the two.
