Factory alarm system problems??

So the other day I set my alarm as I walk into work and notice that my headlights are on. So I go back to the car open the door and notice that the lights are infact off, but when I walk around to the front they are on. So at this point im confused so I turn the car off then cut the car off and the lights go out. I messed with it for a while and finally figured it out... everytime I set my alarm and the lights blink, they stay on. And the only way for them to cut off it by turning the car on, then off. I called Mazda about this and I have an appointment to take the car in next week, but I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else?

They better cover it under warranty because my mods have do not affect the factory alarm system! The dealership im going to are a bunch of asses... the guy on the phone argued with me and was saying my warranty is only 3 years and 50k miles, and I was like no... its 4 years, 50k.

They will replace it, its the brain for the alarm...a bunch of people's here did that. Mine would make the parking lights stay on...

Yep, same thing with me... the parking lights will stay on.

Another question? how long does the warranty for the alarm last? the dealership is telling me 3 years 50k... i guess thats different from the 4 year warranty?

thread jack. i probably wont get an answer and i dont really mind but last night when i shut off the engine with the lights on the car no longer had that one "lights on" tone to remind me. its no big deal to me, and i probably wont care until i find something else that goes wrong.

Any word on what happened? I'm having the same issue. I used to just have to hit unlock 2 times and then lock it and the lights would go off and now they stay on no matter what...well unless I start the engine and then turn it off. I just bought my Mazdaspeed last Tuesday(traded it in for a 03 LX). I'm wondering why the lights don't just go off like most cars they have the lights on for a while and then go out.

I went to mazda and they said they would cover it under warranty but... they said that since i have electronic mods such as a turbo timer and a boost gauge thats tapped into the ignition, that they would have to do a diagnostic to see if my equipment was causing the problem. And if it was my stuff that caused the alarm to go nuts the dealership would charge me the diagnostic fee, which was 180 bucks.

yeah thats why I told them to just forget it, because I figured they would just do the diagnostic and then just say hey, its your s*** thats messing the alarm up. For 180 bucks I can do much better than the factory alarm... not sure what I want tho. Also how hard is it to take the factory alarm out and put a new one in>?
