Exhaust Mods

Looked at potential CPE exhaust mod for an MS3. CPE claims 20-30 HP and 20-30 lbs-ft gains.

I don't believe this. From what I've read, the power gains from exhaust mods are very small, and most owners perform the mod for sound as much as power.

What do all of you have to say?

Power gains from a CBE are minimal, but from a DP, they are significant. That's especially true with CP-E's DP, as it replaces the MP as well.

Yeah a full turboback yeilds major power.

I would do this but I've heard of too many horror stories about smoking turbos, etc.

I think I'm going to go with just a MP

The actual catback shows very minimal if any performance gains and is mostly just for the sound of a aftermarket exhaust. The midpipe and downpipe is where the performance gains come from since they are both catted and very restrictive. However, if you turbo seals are bad you will know pretty quickly after the install of the midpipe & downpipe cause the stock ones just hide the problem from what Ive heard. The way I look @ it is that if my turbo seals are indeed bad, that just gives me more of a reason and excuse to buy more stuff for my car lol. My question is would the catless version of the CPE downpipe (which is a 1 peice design) be able to mat up to the Turbo XS catback system? And if so..does anyone have any sound clips or videos of the setup. I want to wear my exhaust tickets proudly!!!
