Hey guys I have been reading alot about this smoking turbo thing. Has anyone found a solution for this? I have the Corksport race pipe and catback, sometimes when it at idle it will start smoking big time. But it only does it when its at idle it doesnt do it when driving, not even when I drive it hard. Does this sound like the notorious smoking turbo issue?

shouldnt have a to bad of a problem with just a rp... downpipe i was causes the issue. member all turbod cars will get some smoke. try using 5w-40 oil

also, try the search function and you will come up with a million threads covering your exact topic already. You can read your heart out for days on the topic. Get a catch can, get 5w-40 oil, get warranty work to replace the turbo, keep your exhaust stock, check your pcv system, get WI or meth to clean the gunk inside of the motor it's all been discussed thouroughly

So whats the solution? It doesn't make sence to read hundreds of threads and get a bunch of diffrent answers.

I dont know why that dude is freaking out. I did read all those posts. I have been reading all day but still have not found a good answer.

turbos are not supposed to leak oil and smoke out the exhaust, apparantly some of the turbos are bad on the ms3's and need replacing. Alot of members have had their turbos replaced by the dealer regardless of the dp upgrade because the upgraded dp does not cause the problem, it reveals it. the MASTER MECHANIC at my dealer said he know about the bad turbos and if i did upgrade my dp and got smoke he would have no problem replacing it under warranty. (that is of course if i pay them to install the pipe) which i dont have a problem doing for warranty issues and s***. have a talk with your dealer over the phone about warranty and dp's and s***. dont give your name and just see what they think/say and maybe you can get a free turbo replacement. since you dont have a DP you will not have a problem asking them about your smokey turbo, they will prolly replace it

thats why i left my exhaust stock lol and my next well if you wanna call it MOD is a CATCH CAN, not to mention ive said if/when i do my exhaust and it starts smokeing....... ima upgrade my turbo

So there is a bad seal in the turbo and its leaking oil into the exhaust? If thats the case one would think that the stock cats catching the smoke would eventully clog. Does anybody know of any cloged cats out there?

Well s*** lol I have a new boost controller and a fuel cut defender itching to get installed and now im too scared lol

dont do it yet, take your car in to mazda and have them look at the turbo, your mods would not void warranty on that type of thing. try to get a free turbo

Not freaking out but the fact is, there are more than one reason why these turbo's smoke and all the solutions that have been found including warranty work may or may not work for your particular car. So by reading through the threads that exist you can figure out some things to try that may stop the smoking then last resort go stock and get warranty replacement.

he only has catback exhaust......regardless of stock or not CB the turbo should not be smoking...I would take the car to mazda and show them the smokey turbo....they will probably replace it and if the problem continues keep taking it back untill its fixed. very simple.(strike) there is nothing they can do to void your warranty unless youve turned up boost or something like that, then they can relate the problem to that. but you only have catback so youll be fine

Im pretty cool with the salesman I bought the car from. I talked to him yesterday and told him my problem and the mods I have. Turns out he is really good friends with the service guy, he asked him if I would get any s*** from them if I had a catback. He said as long as I dont have a down pipe to bring it in. They dont care if I have a catback, so I have an appointment to drop the car off monday morning. Thanks for all the input guys.

np...youre gona have a fresh turbo in the beast....are you going to use ap to turn up boost or mbc..im pretty sure they can detect mbc if they scan ur ecu. with the ap you jsut flash back to stock

Well I have a Greddy Profec Type-S boost controller and a TurboXS fuel cut defender.. I thought that would do the trick.. any pointers?

no pointers, its jsut that i think teh dealer can read that the boost has been at XX with a mbc. with a flash it doesnt even show up
