Dos anyone have any ideas on a exhaust for the mp5? I dont want to spend 195 on the sport exhaust. I want to spend around $140.00 also I dont want it to be too loud. Any info would be great.
Thanks
:)

sorry but unfortunately for $140 you're not going to find much...the only thing that you can really get for that kinda money will probably be the universal cans that make your car sound like it's farting...you'd probably be best off just getting the sport muffler...not too loud...makes the car sound a little more gruff and it's made for your car...i think it's just what you're looking for...good luck

happy driving

if I were you I would save and buy a cat back because with just a muffler you won't gain anything but a loud noise but no hp gain, just save and take your time and you will eventually have a great sounding great looking car

What about a flowmaster exaust does anyone know how that would sound. Also who makes a cat-back for the mp5. Plus I already plan on getting the aem intake I had one on my civic and it was great. Thanks Again:)

the intake is fine...but if you let MORE air in...you got to be able to let it out or it really doesn't do you any good...and to let more out...your exhause has to flow more.....

in fact...you may be better off by doing the exhaust FIRST..

do a search on exhaust...or Cat-back...its been discussed here many times....

Bosal makes a nice one. its 100% polished Stainless Steel, it has a very nice deep throaty sound, it does NOT sound like a can of pissed off bumble bees running down the street, the fit and finish are high quality.

bosal exhaust....

I've seen a picture of the bosal cat-back on the MP5 and the tip was way off center from the groove in our rear bumper.

Everybody talks about how great it fits, but nobody has complained about the off-center look. So does everybody's bosal line up center?

The only reason I didn't want the bosal was after I saw that picture. Input would be greatly appreciated!

when the bosal FIRST came out they had that problem...the pic on the Protege5Online.com site where I got my system from even showed the offset like you mentioned....Bosal has FIXED that problem and they fit PERFECTLY now....check out the pic of the back of MY p-5 and how the bosal system fits.

Thanks Sir Nuke!

Infact, the picture I was talking about was the one on protege5online.com. :) So you knew what I was talking about.

They look great, but do they offer other tips for that same exhaust? Hopefully nothing to big that sticks way out.

YES>....you can go to the Bosal site and see all the different tips that they make.....the ones for OUR exhaust system all bolt on....as you can see in that picture....all you have to do is get the tip you want...and swap them out.

i changed my muffler to a magnaflow.

i changed my muffler to a magna flow and as far as price, it only cost me 50 bucks, usually they run for about 100 to 150 for the stainless steel one, i didnt get the stainless steel one, i wanted it to look more natural and tucked in , rather then that cylinder look that ever one has, all i had to do was get a tip for it and it was done. The reason y i got the muffler was because i just wanted the deep base sound that wasnt too loud but just right, no hp added or nothing, it was just for my own enjoyment.

How is the bumper holding up? Any discoloration due to the exhaust being so close to the bumper. I have seen a lot of discolored and melted bumpers and would not want to have that happen to my car. I love it to much to hurt it like that.

its fine....I have experienced NO discoloration at all....been on the car for about 2500 miles so far.

now...if there were a REAL concern....you could always trim the bumper on the bottom side just where the muffler is with a razor...and if done carefully and properly...it would look factory.

muffler

the bumper is ok. no melting yet.... lol, but i really doubt that its gonna melt, the muffler looks kind of like the stock one, just more thinner, and the tip that i got had to be welded on, the bolt on ones get jacked really quickly. the tip is about 4 inches and its close to the bumper, but ive had it on for about 2 months now and no melting so dont worry about it.

I have the mazda speed exhaust

I order the part from my dealer then waited over 3 weeks for it to arive. Finaly it did. It looks great and sounds nice!!!
It has a very low deep tone and is not like one of those cans on some kids honda.
As far as performance goes there is not realy any extra. The guys at my dealers shop stated it produces an extra .5 to .75 hp.

Some one mentioned that before you let in more air, (such as an injen intake) make sure you have a way for it to flow out. The mazda speed muffler is bigger in dia. (although not much) is this still enough to be ok for an injen intake or AEM short ram?

yes.....although its not a lot bigger...it does flow more, better than the stock muffler.

I just ordered my sport exhaust form maxdastuff.com i called them and the guy I spoke with said that he had just got 3 or 4 exhaust systems in for the p5. I was lucky to call atthe right time he said as soon as he gets them in they sell right away. Try to call them instead of using the net.
Thanks 4 the advice.
