Has anyone ever installed an air bag suspension in a P5 before? I could use some tips/tricks or basic how to on the install before I buy them.

there's a guy in arizona riding on bags. his name is robert. i think his sn here is seenstarz. his ride is pretty sweet.

ya, there is one guy on here i think his name is bagged pro 5 or something like that. his car is yellow. just asking, why would you want to do this?

not sure if I do. The skunk2 coilovers I have now are crap, I've burned through two sets of 18's and have to do something

what do you mean burned through, as in destroyed the 18's??? or fenders are scratching them??

The coilovers are turned all the way up, the tires tucked just fine under the fender, it was the inside side wall that rubbed on the strut. Only happened if I had people in the car. Guess I need skinnier friends. Besides the skunk2 make a ton of noise. Its a toss up between bags or tokico struts and eibach springs.

YellowBaggedP5 is his name and he was parting out his car to upgrade to an evo or something...but im sure he could provide insight.

There are a few people on here that have them. YellowbaggedP5, xtremelowzNC(or something like that), and that guy with the mintblue kit and shaved everything(he had chrome rims), and another yellow P5 I think. If you are rubbing on the inside though, airbags won't fix that. It's a wheel offset problem.

Damn!!! I didnt know that baggedyellowp5 was parting out his ride. I loved that car because it had show with a hint of JDM.

yea i think he was selling all his cf products and s***...he just got those advans not too long ago as well :(

how wide were your wheels? what was the offsets on them?

They were 18x8 with I believe a 42 offset. Im sure that was part of the problem. The coilovers were too much for the stock struts which blew them out causing everything to ride too low. Im goin with a 17x7 with a 40 offset now that i've bought the airbags. Every thing should ride smooth now.

Sounds good. According to Rishie the minimum offset we can run is +42 but if you do rub you could always see if someone will machine 2mm off the backs of the wheels. That's what I thought about doing since one of my wheel choices is +40. However, 8 inch wide wheels don't fit our car at all, and that was probably the primary reason for your rubbing.

By the way, I'm putting in a pre-request for pics once it's bagged. :D

You got it, Dig Cam already charged up, half the time is waiting for the goods to arrive!

I had air cylinders on my MP5 for about 2 months. I was driving back from a show and broke a rear cylinder at about 85mph. DESTROYED the tire, but didnt touch the rim. If you do it, youll need at least a +48 on a 18x7.5 for it to fit. Thats what i was runnin and had NO problem with it. It was cool as hell to have, it was quick too.....but id never do it again on a mazda. I had it for over 3 years on my CRX and it was fine. But a MP5 is a McPherson car and is WAY better on juice. I just sold all my air stuff and bought springs.....MUCH BETTER NOW! LOL If you got any more questions about it or the install, give me a holla at XtrmLzNC@Charter.net or hit me on AIM. Heres a link to pics of the air on it......

what do u mean way better on the juice... i am also looking at bagging my car .. i have a distributer i am going through and they sell a kit for my car..( pro sedan)... what do u think should i or should i not....

As for "juice is better"....hydraulics are the only way to go on a McPherson car. Ive dealt with TOO many people that have problems with air on a McPherson car. The problem i had with my air is that the front didnt go low. It sits lower now with my 1.5" drop springs. There are a couple bagstrut companies that make some kits, but id stay away from air cylinders. If you have any more questions, email me or hit me on aim. Ill be glad to help!!

Who is the distributor your looking at using? WHat company makes the air kit?

companys name is lowriders unlimited .. there out of british columbia canada... i was qouted 2735 for the kit... so u say hydrows are better huh... i thought they were just for older cars but i guess wrong.. what companys have something for the pro and are hydros allot more expensive than airride... like right now i have coilovers... thee good just i want to really make the people look... i can lowermy car with less than a finger gap in the front and well tucked in the back... my car doesn't go any lower in the front though... oh well i am getting my 18's in may so i am happy there... maybe even sooner who knows...
