ETS 3.5" TMIC and Motor Mounts

I just had the bolt replaced via the recall for the motor mount. I'm assuming that the engine will still be moving as much and it will rub?

And what's the performance difference between the 3.25" and 3.5"? Less heat soak? Less boost loss? Both?

I called ETS on this and he said if I can fit the 3.5 then thats the best option and that upgrading the motor mount would be some thing I would want to do any how.

However aftre thinking long and hard on this its not worth hiding from the dealer while I have this s*** on the car so I said forget it.

PS ask Nutari because in his thread it mentioned rubing but not so much from engine movement but from not fitting in the plastic housing duct in the hood. Combine a tight fit with engine movement and I can imagine there will be much more rubbing.

i have the ets 3.5 tmic and an engine mount and it does rub a little on 1 corner of the ets and the plastic piece in the hood, it looks like it melted very little.
i have had it on now for a month and its awesome, no complaints besides the minor rubbing which you cant hear unless you drop the clutch and smoke the tires and its not loud anyway.
i also ask my dealer about an intercooler and rear engine mount and he said it was ok? less labour for me!

Well I would suggest the 3 inch core or the 3.25 just to be safe and have zero rubbing. I really dont see that extra tinny bit giving you any advantage over a 3 inch core.

So oville if your turbo took a s*** your dealer wouldnt care about the TMIC?

from what i hear the turbo is not under warrenty anyway, mabye thats bs but thats what i heard on another forum(it could be just for canada or you have to get the MAP, im not 100% sure)
i asked the shop foreman about a top mount intercooler and rear engine mount and he said it would be ok. i never said what brand, so mabye he thought it was mazdaspeed parts?

not a chance --- i was just at the dealer today and they do not have mazdaspeed motor mounts or TMIC available other than what came with the car

actually, they don't have much of anything but sport springs, cai, coilovers, and rims

Ahh maybe they wont void stuff but honestly I am good with the CAI and then moving on to a new car again in 1-2 years. Possibly getting another 08 MS3 in one of the new colors just to start over again with the last of the run they will ever do on this car.

the master mechanic at my dealer said changing motor mounts wont void my warranty..he said that he thinsk the car needs to stiffen up and he also knew about the problem with motors falling out....i dont think a tmic upgrade would void ur warranty but u can always swap it out for the stock one..ive heard that its a 15min swap. Like the previous post said, u jsut need to find a mod friendly dealer or service rep. as long as you dont blow the motor and s*** basic upgrades shouldnt be a problem
