essential speeds stage 3 fmu kit 250whp@12psi

Hey...we'll never know till someone tries it out....all speculations. Where are the Essential speed sonsored MSP at?

It can be done. Mine had 239.7whp at 12 psi and was an automatic. About the tranny, the auto is not capable of handling it. The manual, as long as you dont drop the clutch the axles will handle. Upgrade to custom one from TCI.

i saw that car on the weekend at Essential Speed's shop. the guy who owns it works at a mazda dealership and i think the dealership throws in money to the project. i haven't seen it running, but i know people that have...it's apparently legit. it's a damn nice looking car though. (2thumbs)

THATS MY POINT....isnt th eonly issue with runnin the emanage and other piggybakcs is that the ecu is incosistent on its open/closed loop switc overs and it not wantin to accept "fudged" 02 readings and it revertin to stock downloaded maps? well if this o2 modifer thing works...i want that and ill just run emanage :)

also i think 250whp is about right for this turbo...the tuning would be towards the agressive side (leaner) but its beliveable....the stock turbo can make 280whp on other 2.0L applications

is this guy on toprotege? curious as to what dealer he works at, might be a good one to go to that wont try to void your warranty :)

just throwing fuel at boost is a band-aid...proper tuning is needed to do this consistantly.

"buyer-beware"

I hear this alot, and I definitely agree that computer tuning is far superior, but I think people talk the FMU down a little too much.

A properly tuned FMU can be pretty accurate too. On my firebird, and on my buddy's firebird, we were both running superchargers. He had his dynoed with wideband, and after setting the ratio properly, he was pretty consistently hitting the right ratios every time. And he picked up a bunch of horsepower. Also, my firebird ran way better AFR's than my MSP does now, and I was only running an FMU at first.

So, I'm not disagreeing that computer tuning is the best, but I think the FMU deserves just a bit more respect than most people give it.

ive seen two stage 3 kits at essential speed ( his shop is literally 10 mins from my house) and he is working on a new kit right now. The kits he produces are of extreme high quality, ive seen them with my own eyes, the president of the TOprotege club has his stage 3 kit. I dunno i think the vortech FMU does everything you need at 12PSI, the spearco intercooler for that kit is huge as well as the hardpiping, i think the only reason they arent pushing way MORE power from the kit, is the size of the turbo and the thought of dealing with broken trannys. The turbos he uses are race tuned ( if that makes sense ) i think he puts better ball bearings in them and does something with the impeller blades... hope that helps you guys out. I would buy the kit myself, just the fact that funds are in short supply. I would rather spend more money for his kit then any other simply because of the quality of work.
