'11 Mazda2 GX-Convenience Pkg.. Warranty Voiding Mods
Hey everyone.. my Name's Alex and I'm an alcho.. Mazda 2 owner. Lol sorry.. I'm extremely tired right now. Anywho, I bought my Mazda 2 back in I believe end of October. I've been lurking for a little while on here just scoping the scene, and I finally decided to join, especially since I'm seeing a nice growth in the aftermarket parts sector. This car is actually the 5th car I've owned, and I'm only 19.. woops.

Back story on getting the car. Before the Mazda Poo, I had a 99 Ford Svt Contour. I loved that car, it sounded absolutely amazing. My dad had one, so naturally I got one since I fell in love with it when my dad had it. At first, I'll be honest, I regretted getting the car. I come from a racing background, every car I had was pretty damn quick.. Modded SVT Contour, Track Car Integra Type R, I also have done Go-Kart racing doing 160 km/h inches off the ground.. so going to a 100hp car DEFINITELY needed some adjusting to. Overall now, I'm much more satisfied with the purchase. There's more aftermarket out, I'm saving a crap load on gas (although not as good as some of you guys on here though...), and the car in stock form is really not that bad in the handling department. If everything works out with my job, I'll hopefully have some K-Sport's and 14x7 RPF-1's on my car in the near future :). No pics of the Deuce, there's nothing special to it right now. But, to feed my nostalgia, I'll post some pics of my Contour.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

I just saw one of these svt contours yesterday -- now I want one!

Just curious though, why do you want to go to 14" rims?

Well, the 14" RPF-1's are 8.5 lbs, and with how little horsepower these cars have, taking off unsprung mass/weight will help with acceleration/fuel mileage. Plus, I like the way the wheels look with the concave face. Also, I wanna slam the bajeebus out of this car. If it's gonna be slow, it better be low.. at least.

And yeah, with the exhaust setup I had, it was the best sounding V6 I have ever heard. It just sounded stupid awesome. I miss that car... though, aftermarket is not very active, and you have to be good at searching for parts.

In a Go-Kart, or Car? I've run it in a Go-Kart, not yet with any of my cars. I'm currently parting out my Integ, and my Contour wasn't track worthy.. it was a set of brakes away from going on the track.

CSVT in silver frost! oo my fav color of them all! I could never find one in decent shape so I ended up with a mazda instead. What mods do you hvae on the CSVT and were you a member of CEG?

I'm in a similar situation, going from a tuning/racing background to the M2. I traded an '09 Civic Si for my 2, and before that I had everything from a WRX to a 240SX drift car, an S2000, MR2s, Miatas, and RX-7s, and all kinds of other stuff. 100HP isn't much, but I've owned slower cars, and it's one of the best handling cars from the factory that I've ever driven, especially as FWD cars go.

SilFro is the best none-high-end silver colour I have seen. After 12 odd years, you gave that car a decent wash and waz, and it would shine like it did off the showroom. And yeah that's the crappy thing, finding one in decent shape is tough. You'd have to be patient. And why yes I was, same username as here.

Mods.. damn let me try to remember..

Koni Sport Kit, Upgraded Tubular sway bar endlinks, Custom one-off adjustable rear sway bar, rear strut tower brace, gutted, Sparco Speed seats in red, Sparco 375 steering wheel/hub, B&M short shifter, BAT inc SRI with custom heatshielding done by me, underdrive crank pulley, overdrive powersteering pulley, 17x7 OZ Superleggera's effective offset of +34, 225/45/17 Yoko S.Drives, Cross-drilled rotors with Hawk HPS pads, stainless steel brake lines, CF hood, Bassani Cat-Back exhaust with a Vibrant spun mettalic race cat, subframe connectors, I had headers for it but I never got the chance to install them, stock SVT Contour wheels with 225/50/16 Star Specs, ARP wheel studs, and maybe some other stuff I seem to be forgetting. But that's pretty much it.

No it isn't much, but you're right, this car does handle pretty amazingly, fwiw. I'm very surprised, and I can't wait until I start to do some mods to this car.

Lol, judging by your location, i wouldn't doubt that :P.

Haha Yessir.. 403/Dundas area.

Hey CRG,

I was up at the Shannonville WKA enduro races about 10 years ago. Figured that you must have run there.

What motor were you running on the CRG? I ran a Leopard TaG on my Heron.

John

Hey John, Yeah I like it there.. Mosports new go kart track is just insane. Lot's of elevation changes.. like a mini Laguna Seca essentially.

I was running a Rotax 125cc engine, and before that (although I can't remember the exact brand engine it was.. looked like an older Briggs-Stratton air-cooled one, but newer of course) I ran a 125cc Air-Cooled engine. I'm pretty sure that engine had either 21/23 hp.. I think in senior configuration it had 23. Anyway That thing friggen revved compared to my rotax haha.. 18000 rpm!
