Eratic audio performance

I have a new 08.5 MS3 sport. Less than a month old. I have been noticing some wierd and eratic perfrormance from the sound system. I dont have the bose system, just the regular 4 speaker system. Anyhow I usually keep the ALC set to level 1. My understanding is the faster the car goes the louder the volum should get. Well it is all over the place. The volume goes up, down, lots of bass, none at all. Very odd and inconsistant. Also I get a huge boost from 34-35 in the volume. This happens with the ALC on AND off. Before that it seems greatly lanking in"umph", and then its kinda overkill. The sound quality is usually good but in a new car I would hope for a bit better, even without the bose.

Anyhow I read (most of) the thread about the bose stereo problems. I wanted to know if this applies to the sport version too, and if anyone has an update. I want to call my dealer today and get this sorted out. Is there a recall number or bulletin number I will need to give? I dont want to use the dealer I purchased the car from as they are a bunch of douchebags and its pretty far from my house. There is another speed dealer about 10 minutes from me, I am assuming this is warantee and any dealer should cover it?

Thanks

Thank you that is exactly what i was looking for.

For the people who have had theirs fixxed, how much better is it?

I had the same problem with my new 08 3 5 DR Sport and took it back to the dealer. They replaced the stereo and all functions work great. Still not very impressed with the quality of the sound however. Not sure what to do. There are some nice aftermarkets out there but with the LCD screen below the duct vents, i am not sure how nice an aftermarket would look, and i don't want to loose the use of the steering wheel controls.(bang)

To improve the sound you could always buy better speakers. Sound quality depends on both the speaker and they system producing the signal. CD/RAdio technology is cheap, and mass produced. Even most basic units will give fairly good sound if hooked up to better speakers. It will not completely fix the issue, but I guaranty it will help.
Also some car radios I have seen have a line out. If yours does you could run the signal though an after market amp/eq and speakers to improve the sound, and still keep the steering wheel control.
