Engine trouble and mechanic trouble

Well...I joined the zoom zoom boom club 8 months ago...3 out of 4 rods ended up looking like bananas..Long story short took the car to a shop a family member recommended, ordered forged parts...motor bottom end was rebuilt...8 months went by while this was happening...mechanic decided he was going to drag his ass and not call me back or bother finishing it...so I towed it and grabbed the engine since it still wasent in the car...and had to pay a ridiculous price to the mechanic..the valve cover was left off, and the only thing covering everything was a thin plastic sheet.., turbo not ragged, pipes not plugged...so since its been sitting like that, do you guys figure its toast? Probably will need to be ripped apart and inspected? If anyone knows a good mechanic in the Hamilton Ontario area let me know!

the plasitc over the valves should be sufficient, i would suggest until you are going to put the new engine in, hook everything back up and fog the engine with seafoam or something like that, no sense in losing the whole damn thing. sorry i cant help with a mechanic but that should hold you over. good luck

I'll see if I can go ahead and put it back together....I already put the oil filter back on, and going to get the flywheel on there as well...I'll see about posting pictures...calling the insurance company since the interior of the car is damaged due to the guy putting all the parts all over the seats...driving a 86 volvo 240 now until this is fixed up

good luck, most important is to fog engine so nothing dries up. how much did that guy make you pay for him to do nothing?

well at pickup he demanded $1400+ tax, there was already $500 exchanged previous to that, and he couldnt even tell me what had been done since the engine came back from the machine shop...when I contested it, he was going to charge me $58 a day for storage after that day if I didnt pay.....all sorts of trouble with the mechanic, if i left it there I know it would have had wires cut, or pinholes put in the brake lines or something...very shady kinda guy, I have to accept part of the blame for this for not removing the car 6 months ago when it took over 2 weeks for him to return a phone call...
