Engine swap my 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege

So my engine went a couple weeks ago and I have finally come across some cash, and I am ready to swap out the engine! But I am looking for engines and they are all the non-turbo slow ones and I do not want that. I am just wondering what engine (Around $1,500 budget) can I swap into the car? Like would a Subaru engine fit in the car? I really do not know!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

KLDE or KLZE which are v6 engines. but u need a lot of knowledge and know-how in order to do the swap with all the electrical to work right. or with $1500 just build the block and go forged FSDE. and no a subaru wont work unless u want to do a lot of modifcations in order for it to work CORRECTLY. do some research on the forum. use the search button and youll come across tons and tons of info and threads of builds and swaps people have done. being that this seems to be your first post. welcome and have fun.
