Some of you know of the many noises the MS3 has. One of them some of us have is a squeak/sounds like a belt or tensioner issue/screech on shut off or barely noticeable at idle.
Its a known issue on some 2.3l Mazda6's, but DOES NOT INCLUDE the MS3. In order for Mazda to get the TSB to also apply to the MS3/Mazda3, they need to know we're having the issue as well.
My dealer today confirmed that it is likely an exhaust flange/donut between the Cat Converter and DP that's making the metal-on-metal noise over bumps, shutting off, or basically any time there are slight vibrations.
Some have thought (and I though so too) that it was a belt/tensioner/suspension issue, but it seems to be the exhaust.

Call Mazda USA at 1-800-222-5500 and talk to Christina at EXT 1145, ask to make a file number so that Mazda becomes aware that this issue effects MORE than just the Mazda6, and that we'd like to see Mazda make sure this fix also applies to the MS3.
Right now, my dealer is waiting on a better solution, whether it be to sandpaper as advised, or to begin replacing the exhaust pipes.
