Engine eating oil?

I was wondering if our 2.3 DISI engines eat oil? The reason I ask is because I checked my oil level last night and saw that I was at 3/4 full. I know when I did the oil change I was at full line I always make sure, after I change the oil, I heat the engine to operating temperature before checking the oil level. Am I just freaking out? Is there a leak somewhere? Any insight or help will be greatly appreciated.
