i heard alot of people debating over whether or not the P5 can actually do 130mph. i have proof:

Yeah, I know the ratings are there :). I was just wondering how the 195-wides felt at that speed.....I'd feel confortable something a bit wider.

They feel fine at that speed...

You need to get to that speed one day and then you will know what we are talking about (lol)

man that bites ass. mine won't go over 115mph, speed limiter kicks in.... like hello its a 1.6litre !!! why does it need a speed limiter???

mine is a 2.0, i have gotten to 115 fairly easily without pushing, but to be honest, I wont wanna test further until I go to 205/50 or 215/45.... just dont feel cool, these dunlops feel a little wishy washy on big turns....

but i have goodyear eagle venturas 205/50/r15 lowered, and stiffened.... so i think i should be allright with the speed....
is it possible to override the pulse somehow?

Unless you have more hp then the Protege 5 produces , you will never see 130mph. The car is drag limited and can't overcome it without more power. The car in the pic must have had some serious power bump to make it to that speed. END OF STORY!

Not true!

Well after reading all the pro's and cons about how fast your p5 should go I tried yesterday to see. I got up to 125, but did not go any faster, it was really windy out (i live in kansas) and I was on a road with some small hills, the car was being buffeted around quite a bit. I still felt very comfortable in it and was not scared but did not think I could get it to go much faster in those conditions. It felt like I had plenty more gear left, just did not have enough pony's. I truly believe on a flat, non windy course it would go to 130+, oh yes i had the sun roof open, thank goodness for the wind deflector

Yeah, 130 can happen on a stock P5. =P I have a CAI, short shifter, a grounding kit, and performance plugs/wires, yeilding a whole few horsepower at most, but I've seen 130mph more than once.

No, sorry, you are wrong. The pictured car has an Injen CAI that I sold and helped install for him and a Racing Beat exhaust. Not exactly a "serious" power bump.

Why?

Funny. I know you guys are just trying to prove a point.

Why would you ever want to do this in your P5? The noise would be deafening and it would just take too long! There are lots of other cars that wouldn't bat an eye to 130+ if that's your thing.

If he did hit 130 it must have taken him like 5 minutes. In that case he must have had nerves of steel.

LOL. Either that or earplugs. Hey... why don't you guys debate how long our P5s can sustain 130+. That would be interesting.

geeez...

on a windy day i have tried doing atleast 120, but 125 is all i can get out of it i will admit. however, on one stretch of road without serious wind issues the car will do 132.

i do not have a "serious boost" of HP. CaptainKRM's turbo P5 can do 130, it just takes him less time to get there. full throttle from 4 grand wont take me 5 min.

the sound really isnt that bad, and the steering wheel actually shakes more at 80 then it does at higher speeds! our tires are v rated to 140. i actually checked. the car handles amazingly well at that speed and i have a right rear bald tire! i have been there and done it, many times. it can be done as i have well proven.
