emissions recall?

I got my oil changed at the dealer yesterday and while i was there they performed an "emissions recall". they said it was a simple re-programming of the computer and it wouldn't effect performance. well low and behold the car seems noticeably slower. any ideas or has anyone else experienced the same?

there was a recall but i think you only have to do it if you live in cally,..it NOT a reflash of your computer its something with a valve . I change my own oil so they won't be messing with my car.

Just checked my paper work and their calling it "recall #4907H OBD - II obdit recall". They said it was a reflash, and there's no question its effected performance. I live in MN not cally.....so I'm not sure why i needed this.

Can reflashes be reversed?

Whats a cobb ap? i'm assuming a program that alters/communicates with the cars computer? what else does it do and how difficult is it to operate? also where to buy and how much?

sorry for all the questions, still pissed i guess that the dealer claimed no performance change when clearly it did.

car seems slower than prior to my ms cai installation. perhaps they should reimburse me the $500 i spent on that.

The cobb ap is to reflash the oem ecu. It overwrites the ecu with new maps. Is not out yet, but it will be available in about two months.

hey dude check your oil make sure they put 6 quarts! the regular 3 takes 4quarts and the turbo takes 6!! when i did my first oil change my self the dealer told me to pu 4quarts in... other people have been having this issue. check your owners manul you will see 2.3 4quarts, 2.3 turbo 6quarts.

Oil was fine, thanks for the tip.

I spoke with my dealer today and he's going to discuss with an engineering hotline they have access to. He was understanding to my situation and seemed determined to get an answer. I'll keep this forum updated.

This is why I tell the service manager not to do anything to my car other than what I ask. If something else has to be done, they must get approval from me first.
