ELEmental's Car Progress Thread

2002 P5, 1978 F250
I will be using this thread to post almost daily pictures of the progress of my car. I just took it to the shop today to start the body work, and after thats done the HiBoost turbo goes in, then the interior gets painted. The body work will consist of shaving all 4 handles, fitting and painting the WW bumper and side skirts, pulling some of the frame, and repainting about 80% of the car.

First are the pictures of the gutted interior, the pics dont show it, but the roof liner is even out.. only thing still in the car now is the drivers seat.

interesting pics dude. what color are u painting it? sorry if i missed a post somewhere.

Same yellow color. I got screwed on some body work after I wrecked the car, so now that I have money saved up, I figure I will repaint most of the car while they are finishnig up the frame and repainting the bumper. I kinda went overboard instead of just fixing the remaining damage, but whatever. I know I will like it when its all done.

When its done, it will look better, go faster, and the audio will sound better. I am guestimating it being done in 2-3 months.
 
yellow eh? i saw a 300zx once, yellow with a lot of white pearl, i thought it looked really nice/trippy in the sun. if i had the choice, id repaint it like that, its yellow, but with a little more 'spaz' in it.

cant wait to see the end product
 
Heyman, not sure if you've seen it, but I'd assume you're dynamattign or something, Consider adding some Carpet padding as well. Did WONDERS for both my car adn my girl's

Oha, yea, Jealous BTW... boost is our friend...
 
I am just sticking with the stock HZ yellow, by far the best looking color on the Protege's.. nothing like those HZ MP3's :: drool ::

It'll prob cost WAY more to repaint the whole car a new color. I would want it perfect too since I go to car shows with my car.

Hey Elemental, any chance of you getting the car weighed while its stripped down like this? I just wonder how much removing all that interior crap saves you in lbs. 300-400 pounds maybe?

If the shop it's at has a weight then I might throw it on there real quick. I didn't even think about it. I know the audio system alone was prob 200 lbs of weight.. All I know is the car just picks up speed so much better now..

If you ever drag race, maybe take it to the track. Not only will you get a time, but I think a lot of them have weight scales as well.

EDIT: If it's drivable, that is.

he did drive it stripped like that.. he said it was quick... but I've seen it in person.. its ghetto *****.. fo sure
 
I am going to fiberglass the speakers into the doors, and then repaint the dash and all other plastics.. and dye the headliner.
 
feel free to tell me how to do that headliner thing.. i have always wanted to...maybe ill just put some fiberglass designs in theere and tweed it
 
I'll more than likely post a how to of however I decide to do it. Either a spray on dye, or covering it in another fabric.

subscribing to see the progress of this bad boy. I was thinking of stripping my interior and going to a junk or something to get the black interior from another pro because mine is the LX and it didn't come in black on black, only black on tan. I'm either doing that or making the car look luxury type inside with tan leateher used in the BMW M3's and a nice wood grain instead of CF and tuner outside. Havent decided. But back on topic, cant wait to see yours.
