Electric Issue

Dont know anything about the working of a car, but i was out driving tonight when the car wouldnt start i thought the battery had gone but with a pushing start it started again and working fine, however the light is showing that a door is open but none are, it is also stopping me from locking the car on the drivers side. Anyone know what could have gone on or how it could be fixed ??

The power supply in a car (alternator and --to a lesser extent-- the battery) is like the vehicle's gallbladder: if there's something wrong with it, it will manifest itself in many different funky ways.

You didn't mention the year or mileage, but I would send you to a local shop to have the alternator checked; most will do it free of charge. My money is that the voltage regulator is shot.
