There's no way to install it in front of the primary cat, which is built into the stock downpipe. You could put one in before the secondary cat, but what would be the point? Just put in an inexpensive test pipe and be done with it. You're still emission test legal as far as sniffer is concerned and have no CEL's.
On the Speed 6 their CBE was just a little bit restrictive, so a few owners were putting in the electric dump to gain a few hp, maybe 5. Seemed like a lot of work and expense for 5 hp.
On our cars, the CBE flows better than the max output of the stock K04 turbo, so there are no gains to be made. The restrictions are all upstream.
The money would be better spent, IMHO, and more power produced by replacing the restrictive primary cat with a well-designed bell mouth shaped downpipe with either no cat at all or with a high flow cat in states where you are tested, followed by a test pipe connected to the stock CBE. Huge power gain, especially in the midrange.
Finally, have you ever heard the sound of a four banger with no mufflers? It is very loud. Police magnet loud. Perhaps more importantly, it sounds a lot like my full size Kubota diesel farm tractor. Obnoxious. This is not going to produce that sweet powerful sound of open headers on a very healthy American V8 muscle car or the shriek of a high revving V-12. Think farm tractor, O.K? Think rattle trap low budget ragged out four banger 10 year old car with a big hole in its muffler.
We need an acoustically tuned but free flowing exhaust with properly sized and designed straight through resonators to remove that farm tractor sound, IMHO, without taking away any power.
