EGR Tube Nut size

Ok, I am frustrated. What size is the damn EGR nut that goes into the intake manifold? I have to go buy a wrench today, and I need to know the correct size. This is the only thing keeping me from taking my intake manifold out, so I can change all the gaskets.

I used a 1 1/16 wrench. It's a little bit big but not big enough to strip it. I used it for the nut connecting the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for chiming in. I tried that sized wrench tonight, and it was too big. I need the definitive answer on the correct size to use.

Pat, go to the store and buy a 24 and 25mm wrench. I'm guessing its a 25mm because the 1-1/16 I gave you was probably galled out a bit. I'm gonna try to go figure this collar jazz out.

Thanks. Anyone have a definitive answer about the absolute size, and not a guess? I'm about to go pick up a wrench so I can finish this thing, and don't want to waste time and money for not having the right size.

Tried that, doesn't fit in the little-assed space. I'm going to hit up Auto Zone for an $8 24mm wrench, to see if that works.

I finally got it out. Had to take it apart to get it out. I just used carb cleaner to clean out the runners, and am letting them sit. I'm supposed to be on vacation, and they are calling me from work. WTF? I'm on a time crunch here!! (pissed)

It would take a flare nut wrench of at least 25mm in size to do it correctly.

Well, as a result of not doing it the right way, I broke two of my injector plugs. I looked for the right wrench, but couldn't even find it at Sears! (wow)

It measured out to about 25 mm with the cresent wrench after I got it off.
