ecu reflash

i just did a search on this and i came across something that distrubed me a litlte...if you mod the engine and get a re-flash you run the possible chance at high level boost to blow the damn thing....but if you dont re-flash the your engine is ok (with mods) however if you leave it stock and dont re-flash you will be bogged down at 4500 rpm....wtf...im confused and seriously just gonna leave my car alone and maybe just trade it in as is years down the line since im gonna pay it off in like 2 months

lol. so you're worried that if you try to modify your car, the engine will blow. welcome to tuning. I mean, why are you surprised. if you do everything right, you should be fine, it's all about balancing your mods...there's a lot of ways to blow your engine by modifying it....

i dont know that why i created the thread

and i didnt blow my engine cuz of mods...more like experimenting with shifting...lol

I think it is a valid question.

Is it true that the flash takes away fuel?? I don't want any fuel taken away, especially if I up my boost any more (which I, of course, plan to do later).
I can live w/ a stumble now and again to have a better A/F (currently 10.7-11.2) at WOT and 8-8.5psi. Hopefully that will save my motor until I can get EMS in the next year or two.
Any thoughts? I still don't know a whole lot about the reflash along with the timing and fuel adjustments that it supposedly does.

stock boost remains intact cool

so what about you modders that got the flash and up the turbo ante, any input for that?

I reflashed about a year after I had the car and the difference was night and day. I did it because I had heard stories of even unflashed motors blowing up so i figured if i'm gonna have the nuts to up the boost, flashed or not flashed, I'm gonna have some ems first. Just my .02
