Lately i've seen a lot of talk about "ebay headers" and i have one so i figured id get one here and share my experience with it.
So here it is

The version i got had a male connector for the EGR so it did not fit. i ended up cutting the pipe and clogging both holes up with 5000 degree putty, worked well

Besides that i really liked it and its held up so far, did see some gains from not having the cat.

i really dont think that putty is going to last very long. your local hardware store should have a cap that fits

Wow man i got a ebay header and it worked just fine. Make sure you get your donut gasket on the midpipe connection. Also thats really weird you had a male connection, I would be pissed. I got a K2 header for 100 bucks of ebay and it fit perfect. BTW that looks like my ebay intake too haha. I put some internal manifold coating on my header and its dropped engine bay temps way lower. Good luck on finding a fitting for that connection...

LMAO.
Ok, it says 5000 degrees not 500.
Yea i should've gone for the most expensive one for a better "look" lol but i got mine for $55 cant complain, ha!
And idk what your talking about because i bought this back in march i believe? i spun a rod bearing before anything happened to the putty.
Now that i removed the intake i did cut it off and put a breather on the EGR pipe, cuz it looks nicer than a pipe just hanging there. however the putty is staying on the header, worked PERFECT no need to adjust or upgrade. As a matter of fact, if it starts acting up with the breather i WILL putty it back up.
Ill let you be the judge, but as you can see from this picture the header got REAL hot. if that putty was going to dissolve or fall off it would have.
I read the instructions on the putty ;)

I think the fact that all A/C components were removed will make up for the lost MPG from not having a working EGR.

The EGR system is an emissions system that's designed to reduce NOx emissions by lowering the combustion chamber temperatures. A non-working EGR system doesn't affect your fuel mileage, it only affects the amount that you're polluting.

Removing your a/c components will not affect your fuel mileage either. The 50 or so pounds of weight you removed is inconsequential in a 2800 lb vehicle.

The main thing about buying any header is that the egr points the right direction. Should be parallel to ground looking from front and parallel to centerline of motor looking from top, just like the oem is in other words. It's not a bargain to have to mod other stuff to compensate for it not being right IMO. So now the header and egr pipe have to come off together? or be cut apart if the header or IM needs to come off? Lots of threads upinheeya addressing said situation & research IS a bargain at the price of $0.00. Your car, your money, have fun.

WTH are you guys talking about????
The egr pipe is NOT connected, it may look like it in the pics but one is under the other, they are both clogged with putty.
Maybe this will help you understand? (current pic)

I have the same header, I just did a black metal cap on my EGR bung (a whole $.89 at Lowe's), but the tube itself is just hanging there like yours, no breather filter. Mine's been doing just fine, although I think I needed to clean mine out since before I got my header in. No EGR light yet, and it's been 2 months now. No codes at all, in fact (had a scanner on it on Friday).

The male connector is what is on the stock exhaust manifold. The EGR pipe has a flared end with a nut that screws onto the male-threaded bung. The eBay header that you got doesn't have the bung welded on at the same angle as the OEM exhaust manifold.
The two options to keep that connection would be to reweld the bung or replace the EGR pipe with a flexible one.

To plug up the ends isn't a biggie though. If the engine runs fine without throwing any CELs, let us know.

yea my CEL will come and go, usually takes about a good month to come back... then its gone after about 3 days.
i ran it a good 5 months before ****** up the engine, the only reason i have that breather now is cuz it does look better and i had the intake out anyway. i still have not finished putting it together so i dont know how its going to work, but if i have any problems or doubts ill take it off and clog it again. no biggie.

Oh, it isn't even connected, cool. Here's WTH I'm talkin about..........just getting a header that has the correct egr fitting to begin with, getting a non-fouler for the 2nd o2 sensor, not having CELs, not having any inspection issues & not having any unconnected open s*** on the car. $20 more for one that was like that already and being done with project woulda saved ya some headache and time and more money piddling around finding a solution and looks less hacked. That will only get negative attention come inspection time too since you live in TX then I know they do look under the hood.

Look under my hood?!?!?! haha nice one, there is TWO shops down the street willing to slap on the sticker for $55 without even hooking it up. and thats just down the street... as a matter of fact, i was having misfire issues when i last got my sticker, it passed WITH a CEL.
As for "unconnected open s***"... the picture above shows a breather. before that it was clogged with putty. there was nothing open, and i never had any issues.
Actually now that i think about it, clogging that egr pipe will eliminate any possible idling issues due to EGR troubles. Becasue regadless whether it opens or not it wont make a difference.
I honeslty dont care if you think it looks tacky, it works. and that was the point of this thread.

Good for you. Already knew that you don't care. Your craftsmanship shows that and there really is no point to this thread. Good luck with all your future your "rigging" & "beating" the system. Such triumphs to be proud of!

I think everyone here needs a snickers...

Amen, I'm not sure why anyone would care what you did with your car, btw I admire the ingenuity. I'm not sure why anyone would get upset. I have the same level of home rigging on my own car...

one tip: replace that back section of you intake with the rubber original, that u-pipe is currently rubbing on the brake master cylinder and will eventually forming a hole... ruining your whole weekend trying to find out why on gods green earth your cars idle suddenly shoots through the roof.
