Mazda3 Red SP23
just finish dyno at protek last saturday...

here are my current one... 109.7 kw - 17inch, AEM CAI, 2.5inch catback, 4-1 header, advanced ignition timing...



here my previous one with:
BLUE run: 18inch wheel, AEM CAI, 2.25inch catback, and hi flow cat - 98.8 kw
RED run: 18inch wheel, AEM CAI, 2.25inch catback, and race pipe (replace the cat) - 105.7 kw



this is my very first dyno... found it when i dug up my old dyno sheet...
BLUE run: 18inch wheel, De-restricted airbox (take off resonators), 2.25inch catback - 100.1 kw
RED run: 18inch wheel, AEM CAI, 2.25inch catback, and hi flow cat - 98.8 kw


i just realise the de-resticted airbox gives more max killowatt than AEM CAI.... :P oh well... AEM prettier.... hehehe jk... AEM CAI definitely have more advantage... if you notice... the AEM CAI gives way better and stronger curves across rev range... so max kw maybe a little bit lower... but across the rev range, AEM CAI wins over de-restricted airbox....
 
oh... on the day i dynoed together with few other mate's sp23....
all stock mazda3 SP23 australian version comes with only 115kw at flywheel... which is around 154.22Hp at flywheel... how much does US version made at flywheel stock?

and we got cable throttle.... only this year mid 2006 we will get electronic TB and more KW.... i think....

Sheepo - FWD - Mazda3 SP23 (stock, 17in) - 94.6 KW


Sandy - FWD - Mazda3 SP23 (de-restricted airbox, K&N panel, 17in) - 99.8 KW


Vman - FWD - Mazda3 SP23 (AEM CAI, xforce catback, 17in) - 102.8 KW


Flameboy - FWD - Mazda3 SP23 (AEM CAI, 2.5 catback, 4-1 header, adv ignition timing, 17in) - 109.7 KW


sheepo's car is brand new and completely stock... most sp23 only made 86-91kw atw.... i dont know whats wrong with his... lol... how come so much kw...

Looks good. Finally someone else with more than 1 N/A dyno besides me :)

109kw = 147hp.

410Nm = 207lbs/ft... wtf?! Is that right?

i'm not sure about the torque reading too... i think its out.... thats why we didnt bother about the torque...

one question bean....

what makes US spec mazda3 makes more KW/hp from the factory? im just interested to see the different... probably there is a way i can catch up... :P

is it the compression? or just emission tuning?

oh... dont worry about the numbers... its low... i just comparing the curves.... different dyno different day is not a good comparison.... i just wish i can do all of them in one day...

the 2.3L seem to have the same engine specs as the in both NA and AU. Very slight difference in trans gear ratios though. I think the NA models just have the ETB because of smog restrictions. Looks like power went down from 160hp to 154hp because of that extra muffler put before the tip and some ECU tuning for emissions.

There are no dynojets in your area?

whats dyno jets? .... 0_0 is that a dyno machine brand or type?

i dont know... but most dyno competition in aus are using dyno dynamic...


you could be right.... hmmm cost the newer spec... AUDM 2006 model is the same with USDM spec...
 
it's both. dynojets are very good as they require very little operator "handling" and they don't need to enter any data about the vehicle into their system. Just strap on, put in the o2 sensor in the tail pipe, clamp a connector into one of the spark plug wires, and you're set to do several runs. http://dynojet.com

aaaah... NSW... im in VIC.... never heard them before.... but i checked the website, and they sounds good.... less error factor... less operator 'handling' too.... thx bean...
