Ok. I just got dynamat, 100 sq ft. Where at in my trunk should I put it over? I dont want any rattles at all!! well close to none. So where should I put all of it?

Send it back, it will stop nothing by itself and certainly will not stop the rattles totaly.

Ralltes are usualy caused by several panels vibrating and tapping each other. So to stop it you need to mass load the panels ( which is what dynamat does) and then you have to buffer the overlaps of all panels with foam tape.

Now the problem comes in when its not panels vibrating that is a problem, its componentry of the car. The seat belt rollers for example, or the tail light. You can not stop these rattles. Well Atleast not simply or with dynamat. Also the spoiler on your car is not able to be silened. The lincense plate can be.

For what you have, cover the inside of the trunk lid with dynamat and cover the back of the rear deck plastic aswell as the rear side pillares with plastic. Then if you have enough left over, cover the rear deck metal too. With what you have left over, double up what you have already done. Anything left over can be sacrificialy drapped over the floor or wheel wells to stop a small amount of road noise.

Ic, i mean just the inside parts. I dont really hear my tails and other thigns rattle on the inside, I just hear the rear deck, and the trunk rattle.

On my protege I did the complete floor, trunk sides, took of the rear bumper and lined it and bumper mount, and the trunk lid, and front door and I get no rattle, just some flexing from time to times depends on the song. The rear deck panel is kinda hard but i had to line the complete underside of the panel to stop it .

I put it on my inner and outer trunk on the inside of course. The inner rear quarter panels close to the tail lights.

Definatley the rear deck, I doubled up the rear deck and removed the brake light from the deck, and tied the wires down.

Plug the small drain holes in the pockets between the rear wheels and tail lights. Yes, they make noise.

Adjust your trunk latch so the trunk closes tighter.

I removed the muffler heat shield too. Mine made alot of noise.

After I did all of this I could turn it up pretty loud without exterior vibration.

Good luck, I hope you have the same results.

I had the same mission for the interior. With that much dynamat I would put it on all of my flimsy panels plastic and metal. If you just want to do what is making noise or little by little turn it up and locate the vibration by listening pressing on panels, remove them. I think the hardest part is getting the rear deck plastic to stop vibrating. You really need to strap it down IMO. Rear view mirror needs the clip thing adjusted alot. Never ending battle for me.

Thanx, yeah the rear deck is a pain in the ass, that and the trunk are the only things i hear rattle.
