DVD System

OK, we've had our 2009 CX9 for about a year and a half and just used the rear seat DVD player. Our grand child loved seeing NEMO everytime we put her into her car seat and I mean EVERYTIME! My question is this: is there a way that the audio portion can be played through the onboard sound system or must it be heard only through the headphones?

OK cx009, now tell me what that means! I am 63+ and can barely set my dvr let alone understand how all of this new technology stuff works!

On the head unit, press the button that says "Media" On the screen you will see AUX and/or RSES. Press the Media button until you see RSES

Somewhat related question (sorry for the hijack):

Does anyone know if the DVD can be programmed to play more than just Zone 1 (USA) DVDs? Some DVD players like Philips units can be programmed to be universal and I am wondering if anyone has addressed that issue with Mazda?

my cx9 comes with navi and oem DVD. at the right bottom side of the navi screen, you'll see "media". insert the disc, make sure to turn off your headset and press "media" to select "RSES", then crank up the volume.

If your's didn't come with navi,, just find the "media" button.

hope it works for you.

I also have a 2009 CX-9 with factory GPS and rear DVD system

If you have the GPS, here is what you do, on the lower left side of the GPS screen there is a button "SOURCE". Push it then on the screen touch the AUX2 then you should be able to listen to the rear DVD sys through the CX-9's speakers.
