Dude, I'm getting a dell

Dells are cool, but RONI said, its usually better (definately cheaper) to go and build one yourself.. takes some time and patience though. Oh, and yeah, their customer service sucks.

I just bought a new Dell 4600. I priced out the components separately and it actually would have cost more to build it myself and I wouldn't have had a warranty.

Oh, and they give you a 2% discount if you apply for and use their credit card. 2% ain't much but 20 bucks is 20 bucks. I just paid it off when I got the first bill.

it probably wouldn't cost more if you know where to find good deals on hardware..

I decided not to go to crazy cause I had a budget. All together it was a little over $1000 including shipping. Some things I didn't get, like speakers because I have really good set with sub that is way better than theirs. Other things also.

I bought the exact same model minues the monitor & video card & the 2,6 GHz not the 2.8 about a month ago.. Total after $200 mail in rebate was just over $500.

no issues yet.

same here....mine came out to bout mid 500's w/o monitor and the Nvidia instead of Radaeon vid card. should really go with the small biz setup. just make-up a name and you'll save for sure.

Or gave a s***.

I'm lazy. Let somebody else build it. I'd rather be wrenching.

Dont go Dell if your counting on needing tech support from them. Take it from someone that used to work in the triage for their tech support, it sucks, and its not free.. plus last year they moved all the tech support to india.. hence why I no longer work for them..

Other than that they are usually solid machines. My friend bought one a year ago (not sure of the specs) and hes coming here this weekend for me to put in a new HD since his died on him... HD's will die no matter who builds the PC, theres a reason why tons of companies and schools have Dell's...

cool... what are the specs and how much did you pay?

my dell laptop kicks ass. but i would never buy a desktop system from them, because i think it's always better to build them from scratch....

but that's my opinion and i'm awfully picky...
same here. i have a dell laptop because you cant find the parts to build a laptop really, but always build your own desktop...thats just my preference though.

Seems like the popular choice, I just recieved my 4600 this week, its replacing a 4 year old dell desktop that never had any issues. I got an all in one printer, the 17in Ultra sharp LCD and upgraded the memory, sound card, and video card, so it was near 1500, but well worth it.
Next up is the wireless network in the apt with the cable modem. :D
