DSM AFC huge problem

I have the same problem... Just wondering if using the MIL eliminator for the O2 with the AFC could be part of the problem. When I dyno'd my car it appeared to still have the stock a/f curves...
You sure the AFC boost sensor is getting a proper signal? Try datalogging it with the r4 software.

that's bizarre, intake shouldn't affect the O2 sensor at all really. What was the code? Maybe it was simply a coincidence that the code came on for the injen.

na man, it had to do with the injen, cus when i would take it off the code would go away, and i would wait a couple of weeks then put it back on and bam CEL agian,

i think the code said

fuel trim too lean 02 bank 0 or something along those lines.

I have never had any major issues with the AFC. I am running the stock super-map with stock boost and an FMIC. My wideband shows that my AFRs are rock steady around 14.7 most of the time. Under load it richens up to about 10.0.

The only time that I have ever had issues with bucking were with boost leaks and loose vacuum lines before the AFC. Once I installed the AFC most of my bucking and soot issues disappeared. Tightening all of my vacuum lines and hose clamps eliminated all of the rest. Whenever the car starts running like ass, the first thing that I check are the hose clamps and the vacuum lines.

The other change which has proved beneficial has been moving the MAF to the pressure side, which makes the car less intolerant of boost leaks (at the price fo a slight loss of power).

Currently, the car is running like a champ. I'll have some dyno info for DSM once I have the MAM manifold installed.

so you moved your maf from the intake pipe to the cold pipe going to the TB? i was thinking of doing that when i get my hard pipes.

Tried that, but is wouldn't connect to the ECU... Checked the wiring twice with the instructions and wiring diagrams and tried a couple USB cable I have laying around... nothing worked?

well im going to check vac lines tomarrow and i think im going to rerun the one going to the AFC using the small hard vac line instead of the normal type vac line, and see if that makes a diff. then its on to the other things.

Tyrant, you know what's crazy, is I bought my MSP used and it has an Injen CAI installed. Since I bought the car, the CEL has been coming on like every couple of hundred miles than turning off than coming back on. It's the same reading and I figured it was just the 02 sensor being bad. Everytime I suggested that it was the injen, people told me I was crazy and that they never had that problem with it. Now that you've said that I am pretty sure that's what it must be. Anyone know if there's been similar problems with the AEM cai?

put the stock airbox back on and see what happens. the maf is calibrated to its specs so maybe with the perrin intake the afc is way off causing those problems from 2-4K.

well i havnt had time to try what DSM mentioned, since nopi was here this weekend, but im am going to try what he said one by one till either the problem is fixed or im going to take it out.

well its been over a week since i added the new parts, turbohoses SMIC and hardpipes with type-s bov, and so far so good have not had any issues like i was having before.

im still going to change the vac line to a hard line instead of a silicon, and im going to clean the o2.

with all that being said i proboly jynxed my self and shes going to ran like ass tomarrow

Just to confirm what kicker said already, The AFC uses non volitile ram for its map storage, therefore it will not loose its settings when power is removed. If you program it now, and put it on a shelf, and come back 10 years later, it will still have whatever settings you have loaded on it.
