DSC, ABS, Traction Control

So last sunday was event #2. I ran the first lap with traction control off but the 20 & 30 amp fuses in. the DSC kicked in a few times which made my lap times approx 2-3 seconds slower. laps 2,3 & 4 i had the fusses pulled and man. the car felt completely different. My only concern is the check engine light comes on because it cant communicate with the ABS module.

Does anyone know if that would cause the ecu to go into safe mode and retard timing?

I believe you pulled the same fuses that Andy Hollis pulled, it shouldn't put your car in limp mode. But this is still a good question.... I'm going to pull the fuses and drive home 30 miles from work tonight and report back.

Drove 60 miles with the 30amp fuse out, no limp mode.

Would limp mode be apparent? like when the MAF sensor fails on my 240sx the ECU would cut the motor at 3k rpm. Or would it just retard timing to a more conservative level

Was this an autocross event? I highly doubt the traction control was solely responsible for 2 seconds off your time...thats a HUGE difference. Pulling abs/traction control fuses shouldn't cause the ecu to go into safe mode, since I believe 1 or 2 other's that have done so reported no change in power.

For me, the car does just fine with using only the button to disable the t/c. Maybe if I were in a situation where I really needed a few tenths or less I'd consider the fuses.
