Maybe its just me but, some days i drive my car perfectly, and other days the car will jump, skip, stall... I'll apply to much throttle hold the clutch too long... is it me or the car?

I just keep having this self conscious feeling that i wont be able to win a race because i'll mess up the launch... am I alone on this?

Thanks guys

Cars have their good days and their bad days just like everything else. I find that if I think about how I'm going to drive I end up driving worse (jerky, etc) than if I just drive. Does that make sense?

i feel some what the same. but, it's more me having good days and bad days. days where i am well rested and days where i am completely beat down tired. next time you're out rollin' around and you get that feeling like the car is having an off day, just go to a lower gear and truly enjoy it.

It's weird i swapped cars for a weekend with a buddy of mine a week ago (Infinity G35 coupe) and i really felt a big difference when i got back in my car, like my car is 20times faster!, but yet when im driving day-to-day i dont feel fast n e more?????

i donnu it might just be in my head, like there is never too fast/quick, unless you get a $100,000.00 car...

I'm gonna give a +1 on the fact that it's the car. This car is very reluctant to shift smoothly especially in gears 1 through 4. I'm with Kendon on when it starts being b****y, you just drop it down a gear and let it know who's boss.

HAHAHA! too funny, but believe it or not the G35 was harder to drive, I think i've found a clutch worse than ours!

Ive have a prety good amount of experience driving stick and i drive it everyday. I feel like at times im doing a bad job driving but i guess its " her " that isnt driving the same.

SNOOKY!!!! u my frined are not alone in thiss.. I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAYYYYYYY!!!!!! LMAOOOOO not gona lie tho i raced a stock sti off the line 3 times and rippd em by 2 cars up untill `80-90.. nervous'ness can sumtimes help u ahaha i freakin launchd at like 5k cuz i was so nervous and leg was all over the place ahahhha.. but yea ur not alone in this.. sumdays my car drives smooth as ice other days i cant seem to get a smooth shift!!

Another big thing that you can also factor into the difficulty of these cars is that I'm sure a quite a few of us (myself included) came from cars with traditional throttle by cable cars. These cars have an electronic throttle. I would give someone a MILLION bucks if they would come up with a swap made for this engine. I have the same thing happen to me on a daily basis. You just gotta get used to it and I will especially agree with the fact that the less you think about it, the better you'll do. That's what I've noticed.

I'm beginning to fall in love too. (wiggle)

I've had mine about 3 months now and I have a couple k on it already. Definitely not the easiest car to drive smooth, or launch.

Have you done anything with your clutch or is it stock?

Yep mine has its days too. Its more consistant when I run it with A/C off. When I get annoyed at my car I just drive my moms lexus es 300. Get back in my car after that and its soo fast :).

Yep, mine has bad days too. Days when it just feels rougher, vibrates a little more, doesn't accelerate as smoothly, etc. But when it's on -- it's a thing of beauty.

It's not you. It's the car.

When I got my '03 V6 MT in Nov '02 I had been driving manuals for 30+ years. Couldn't shift it consistently smooth for two months. Thought it was the slow-to-react drive-by-wire (which was only part of the problem).

Bled the cylinder and it was fine afterward.

Try bleeding the clutch.

Before doing that, check out the how-to in MS6 section. Do the clutch pedal adjustment. I have had my '06 MS for a little over a month and had a heck of a time moving away from dead stop consistently. Tweaked the adjustment and it SO much better now.

Try it. You may really like the results.

It's not just you...it's the car....and the reason I call mine "she" cuz like a women she's very tempermental lol.

Yeah, exactly. That's how I knew my car was a girl. Some days everything's great, shifts are smooth and easy, the power is there when I want it, and driving is a joy. Then sometimes shifting is just plain lumpy, there's hesitation and stutter, and generally it feels very uncooperative. And not all at once either, any of thos symptoms can just pop in. I've even had a bad drive TO the store, and a good drive home FROM the store.

the clutch adjustment in the how-to section helps a lot, although in my case i put a Sprint booster chip in the car which opens the throttle fully, sometimes any small amount of pressure applied on the gas could make the car jump....!

There is a TSB for a new fuel pump. Alot of you guys fuel pump may not be good and you just dont know it. I had the same problem with my car being quick some days and a dog the next. I had the fuel pump replaced and now it feels more consistant.
