2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD Bose/moonroof, sonic silver
I've been noticing a lot of dragonflies zooming up and hovering over my cx-5 hood and then flying away. Happens when I'm parked or even just stopped at a light or sign. I guess they think my car is a body of water or something. I have sonic-silver by the way.

Birds love mine... it's white and apparently white is great for target practice

My spicy MSP attracts an array of insects, but always in large amounts when it happens. One day I may have 100 green bugs all over it, another day, I may have 100 completely different looking bugs covering it. Attribute it to the bright coloring. Last week, while doing some tuning work with the laptop in the car, two Dragon Fly came in and subsequently got stuck at the dash/windshield marriage point after hovering around for 10 minutes.

Some car colors reflect the same pattern of polarized light as water, especially red or dark-colored cars.* As far as the dragonflies are concerned, a red or dark car IS a body of water because it gives off the correct light signature.* The result is that dragonflies mistake cars for bodies of water and go about doing what they normally do at water: making territories, finding mates, and laying eggs.*
