downpipe

Honestly, if you can get an exhaust flnage, making the pipe is the easy part. Unfortunately I don't know anyone on the east coast.

Magnusmotorsports.com has 3 inch downpipe ready to ship.
Ask for either Steve or Marco.
Here is a picture of it installed on my car:

What about the so-called "s-pipe"?? The part between the turbo housing and the 3-bolt section of the down pipe? I heard this is as restrictive as the rest of the DP...

would the 3" downpipe bolt to the rest of my exhaust? also, how mucj is it? Thanks

Just give magnus a call up to find out.
I went with the entire turbo back exhaust, so I do not know prices for different sections of the exhaust.
If you have MSN messenger I could send you the video I am compiling.
Let me know.
I am at msn: XSIVSPD and ppagel@cogeco.ca

Apex motorsports in tempe,AZ makes a beautiful looking thermal coated D/P that will bolt up to the stock exhaust and is 2.5".I have this pipe on my car and I love the quality. It is like no other that I have seen to date.It is also thermal coated. Here is their web site, and they do have pics up now!

Apex MS Looks nice, but only 2.5 inch back?
Why in the world would you want to upgrade twice, when in a half year rolls by that 2.5" won't be suffice to meet your next upgrade.
Go with the 3", you will not regret it later.

many dsm tuners with 400+ Hp use 2.5 inches back. The real issue is that callaway "S" bend comming right out of the turbo.

would the DP cause a CEL?

I can, all depends on the O2 sensor. And 3 inch is overkill, I'm runnign 2 3/4 and am at over 300 whp with more to go as soon as I get fuel and timing issues straight.

so the down pipe replaces BOTH cats? That's what I understand from looking at the site and under my car.
Are there any side effect from running with a CEL? Would the car run in "limp" mode or even richer?

what's that thing before the O2 bung? a silincer?

This pipe will not throw a CEL when you use the suppiled O2 signal modifier.
The thing you are referring to before the O2 bung is a flex section. It replaces the spring flange flex section between the original D/P and the cat section. It is required to allow movement of the motor.
As for the issue of why go three inch? There is no point as the opening from the turbo housing is only 2.5".Why go bigger ?You won't gain a thing except a bigger bill on your parts!DSM's do go 400+HP on 2.5" so why go 3"?
Matt:)

I agree with him 3 inch is perfect for 500 hp supras, but for a 4 cylinder with a t25 it is over kill. the downpipe is the section that comes directly off of the turbo (correct me if I am wrong) and I would hate to brake a fange with a nasty case of wheel hop, isn't that what flex sections are for? I want a front mount like the one on the orange one that says ASC on it!
