Dollar Store Wax???

okay so im starting a lil business on the side to keep up with student loan payments, by washing and detailing cars.

i was in the dollar store and found;
wax
shameez
squeegies
....

I was just wondering has n e one used it b4?

keep in ming i would never in my life use this dollar store crap on my car, because id be too scared to kill the paint...

just wanted to know, if it works it would save me a few bucks on the expensive stuff...

I think its ****** up that youd rip people off by using a product that you wouldnt even use on your own car...and if it came from the dollar store it is crap...i mean havent you watched the news lately...people were buying dollar store colgate toothpaste and it was fake...people got really sick because there were chemicals in the paste that were the same as what is in antifreeze...I say pass the cost of supplies off on the consumer and assure them that you are getting the very best...if you do good you get repeat business.

i doubt car washes use comercial "turtle wax" to do cars, either they get a speacial deal on the good stuff, or they have a generic brand...

either way i dont think im gonna buy it im not that cheap, i was just wondering if any one had used it. i bought armorall wipes from the dollar store b4 and they worked fine...

ive worked for a couple detailing places before and at least the ones ive worked for have gotten some of the best waxes out there...the reason is they get HUGE discounts for bulk buying. It depends what you really need...like we had a wax that was awesome...it was called amarilla something (yellow wax in spanish) and it was a great wax but the shine didnt last very long if it rained...but theres other stuff like the turtle waxes that might not get a perfect shine but will be a lot more durable...for a guy in your position id recommend getting something that does a good job but wipes clean easily(ya know something that doesnt dry with a heavy coat) that way you dont completely wear out your forearms waxin a few cars a day!

you know what you do, check out the actual manufacturers of the product you're getting. then go to auto stores and check the manufacturers of the 'name brand' products on the shelf. you'll be surprised to see that multiple companies are all put out by one single manufacturer and that your dollar store wax most likely comes from them.

on another note, you can also spend way under 100 and get everything you possibly need for detailing at an auto parts store no problem. i have a buddy that owns his own detailing business and he pretty much charges people i think 35-50 an hour depending on car or truck and then for every product he uses he charges half the price to full price of the product itself depending on how much he uses. he's been making a damn killing doing this too.

BTW: Just to let you know, there are many people who feel like I do about your posts, Just I don't mind telling you, Eventually you might put some more thought into them..

Honestly... Dollar Store Wax..?? Wax isn't that expensive for the really good stuff. It will probably last you the entire summer even with your little Car Detailing Thing on the side.

Go to Canadain Tire and Get Mothers California Gold Cleaner Wax. It's like $15.00 and in a Red tin. Then get some Microfiber Towels, They are on sale this week for 50% 0ff.

Then Wash the Car fully and apply the wax by rubbing it between your hands. Remove your rings and you can work the wax into the paint with heat plus you will be able to find damaged areas just by feeling it. Let is get a bit hard and fold the microfiber into 1/4 then buff off. When the rag stops working well, flip it over. You can do this a couple of times.

If you feel that the paint is not totally smooth, then Claybar that area. You can also get that at Canadian tire.



PS: Dollar Store Squeegies are Complete an utter Crap. They are made of the same rubber that Crappy tires are.

Get a good one and it will last you your life, plus, it will actually work. DO NOT USE IT ON THE PAINT, JUST GLASS.

It has nothing to do with Economy.

It makes a perfect application of wax due to the heat of the hand, plus as I said, it lets you find contamination on the paint before you wax over it. If you feel something, you can fire up the clay and then continue.
