does anyone have either one on their cars with pics? if so could you post some? I know there was a GB a while ago on the OE tuning CF hood but I dunno if anyone purchased one.... so I'd like to find out a little more about their qualilty and fitment before I buy one.

thanks

please don't respond by asking me to search :) thanks ;)

search :D
no really....ion performance has some really cool looking ones that are coloured cf....I'll be looking into one of those soon

sorry.... serached... nothing useful came up....

I don't want to see the pic that they offer on their site...

i want to see it on someones car.... and no-one has posted a vender review of it in that section....

Actually, I have a friend who installed the fiberimages hood. He says it's great fitment and good quality. I was thinking about getting it, but the thing is they're asking over $900 CDN for it. So that's why i might get the one from ion performance. I'll see if i can get some pics of his tm.

maybe you could ask Auto R&D, I think they sell that one.... I dunno how the price would be shipped to canada though...

i think ion is pretty cool too... but too bad there is no silver weave or that would be perfect.!

Hey Phantom,....

Do you keep the hood on during the winter season?

auto rnd carries fiber images. -=) they are supposed to be the best hoods for the money.

ive got a fiber images hood, the quality on it is great. it maybe "expensive" (not as much as dgm though but everybody loves the dgm  ) but you get what you pay for, my hood has no flaws what so ever in it.

I still have my hood on for winter. I just wax it more frequent. I plan to take it off anyways, but to lazy.... :)

it's retail for around $1000.00 cdn.

you can pm iON Performance for exact price ;)

Rishie(ARD MP5) Sean(wheelguru) and Tony(MrFoggy) all have Fiber Images hoods and there's not a flaw among them. Nice stuff.

Yup, I just got mine. And i gota say that the quality is beyond compare! Absolutrely beautiful! I haven't taken any pics of mine personally, but UberCaff has. I'll PM him and see if he can post them or send them to me to post.

The ION one looks nice too, though, and I like the idea of colored carbon fiber.

I to, purchased a FIBER IMAGE carbon hood from AUTORnD. I must say that the fitment on my hood was not that good, and "we" debated shipping it back for a new one.... but we deceided not to. Sean then proceeded with a few mods and we got it fit pretty good.

I had my bodyshop "clear coat" the hood after I had the right & left sides painted to match my car. I totally recommend ANYONE who purchases a carbon hood to have it CLEAR COATED. With a normal carbon hood, the appearence tends to look "dull & lifeless", after the clear coating was applied it looks bright and stellar no matter how much road grime is on it!!

I didn't even think to have it clear coated. I thought it already had a layer.

Incidently, I purchased my FI hood from Rishie too, and my body shop put it on. The technician there said it was the best fitting CF hood he had ever seen! The fit is perfect! Don't know how yours came out unfitted.

FI has a well deserved reputation for fit & finish of their products.
As to the clear coat question, FI gives their hoods (and other items) a marine gel coat just like you'd find on the hull of a fiberglass boat. I was advised by them that, while adding a clear coat wasn't actually needed, the automotive-grade clear would increase the lustre of the hood and would allow that lustre to stay longer than just going with the straight marine gel coat.
Use boat wax or pure carnuba on the gel coat, or your favourite, high quality wax on the clear coating...as you would any other paint job.
Hope that helps a bit. ;)
BTW, the optional carbon framing is killer!
