Does 2005 have aux audio input? I'm looking at an 05 s Touring or 05 s Grand Touring

In the US the 2005 model didn't come with the ACI, and it wasn't made available until 2007. I'm guessing you're not in the US?

That being said there are lots of aftermarket audio inputs for the stock HU. Check out my audio input thread for details.

Yeah ok thanks. I am in the US however... I test drove an '08 but forgot to ask the guy about this 2005 mazda3 special edition that I'm also looking at. I looked into some aftermarket aci ones and found something that looks pretty good for 70 bucks. I don't want anything that has an actual Ipod hookup because my friend has that and can't use the Ipod interface (has to control it through the deck). I'm just looking for an audio in which shouldn't be too tough to find. Thanks for the reply

Sorry, I assumed you weren't in the US since the touring/GT trim levels weren't adopted here until 2006. Before that it was 3i, 3s, sp23. The sp23 was the special addition for 2005. Most of it's features became available on the 2006 GT trim, except for: option of saddle brown leather, carbon gray mica paint, high gloss wheel paint. Also on the '06 GT trim they added ACC.

Which method are you looking at for $70? If you don't have sirius and don't plan on adding it then I'd recommend going with the simple audio input by Grom Audio. It costs about $50 or so, so it comes in cheaper than the Aux Mod basic. The difference between them is which port on the HU the module uses.

Also as far as ipod integration modules locking out the ipod, while most do there are some which have two modes, one of which leaves the ipod unlocked so you can control it directly from it's own controls. Also most of the ipod modules provide you with a 3.5mm input for you to plug in other devices.
