do you guys have scratches under your bumpers?

I just went to the post office today and pulled in the little parking lot they made next to the sidewalks. I guess I pulled in too much and got a few scratches underneath the bumper.

I guess it's not important since you cant see them unless you are under your car. Should I touch up the paint? I don't want the paint to have a weak point to shed. The bumper is made out of plastic so I dont have to worry about rust right?

Don't waste your money on paint..... you will continue to scratch up your bumper (front) every other place you go...... and since when does plastic rust!?!?!?!? common sense dude, common sense

I actually have two nice dimples rubbed into the underside of the bumper from using ramps when I changed my oil. Didn't check the clearance and I'm still kicking myself. You can't see 'em unless you crawl under the car, though.

They're not as bad as the spot where someone rubbed all the paint off my bumper on the front passenger side, or the huge dent from an inconsiderate SUV driving sob who took it to the bare metal by opening their door into mine.

Sorry, needed to vent. These past two months haven't been good to my poor P5 :(

The paint sucks, get used to it.

-marks on both front doors from other assholes hitting my car (one is white where paint flaked, the other is a line that went to the body)
-at least 10 chips (some big ones too) just on the hood, I won't even get into the bumper

Am I pissed? F**K yeah!!
What can I do about it? Well, unless I take the time to wax my car every week, which I don't, it will probably just get worse.

Get a bug deflector for your hood, I'm getting one and wish I had one a long time ago. That front area of your hood will get demolished!!

Also please note that I always try to drive behind regular cars, and stay away from staying behind big trucks or any cars with large rock-throwing tread.

Very frustrating

Some one at work put a nice little nickel sized ding on my door with a little white reminence. What I would do to find that F---er!! Before I had a different car and this lady opened her door slamming it in to mine. I was with a girl at ChickFilet walking to the car. I was so pissed. No damage was from the car hitting the side (it was an 88 full size GMC Jimmy built like a tank). She walked right passed me and didn't look at me. My girl held my arm and told me not to say any thing. I couldn't resist, so I went back in to the fast food joint, and said loudly, "EXCUSE ME! You just rammed your door in to my car and set my alarm off and then walked away with out saying any thing and I really don't appreciate that!" There was a line of people who all looked back, so the woman was totally humiliated! On the way out, a guy looked at me and said, "Right on!" :D They probably thought I was going to say, "Excuse me, this will only take a minute..." :p And hit the floor! My girl was embarrassed as she sat in the car, but I left feeling like another satisfied customer!;)

The factory paint is REALLY thin.
ENTIRELY too thin... I, too, have scuffs under the front fender...nothing I can do about it, I guess.. Because I know that if I were to get it buffed and re-painted, it would happen again.. I'm not the one who pulls too far over the curb, but we wont go there ;)

Actually, I just touched up a couple scratches on the car today with that touch-up paint the car comes with.. we'll see how long that holds up.. LOL

i sure do, you know why? because when someone stole my stock rims and tires the goddamn towing company dragged it up onto the flatbed on its rotars

i have them under the front, price i pay for driving a lower car and then lowering it more, haha. also have the nicks in the front end. it seems like they are multiplying too! two door dings both just dents no chips. i have a huge gash from when i was putting on my eibaches in my buddy's garage and raised the car up on a jack with the hatch open, right into a copper pipe in his cieling. covered it up with that bad touch up paint, looks like white out.

Thats exactly what happened to the start of my madness also. Damn flat beds. Its impossible to get those on there without dragging though...seriously.

I don't pull all the way up to curbs, but I bought tha Mazdaspeed Splitter and it should cover your scratches, and look a little better.
got mine for $75.

Scratches under the front bumper are a thing I have come to accept. When your car sits about 6" off the ground it happens. Just make sure you always leave plenty of room from the curb.

There is a picture right there :)

It's installed on the picture he posted of his car. The wind splitter is just that slightly darker plastic protrusion you can see at the very bottom of the front molding.

I am paranoid about getting too close to the curb when front end parking...I usually end up about 2 feet from the curb...but my doors get hit...pisses me off. People are so inconsiderate. I saw a lady pull into a parking space but misjudged and hit the car next to her. She just pulled out and left....I couldn't believe it...I took her license plate number down and left it on the victims windshield.

In the picture on my first post! if you look at the bottom of the bumper there is a black piece that sticks out from under the bumper!

Here is another picture of it!
