For cheap and good kyb gr2. But if they are not squeking or weak they should be fine. One way to test is push down and see if they're stiff ( hard to push down) or when you release the preasure itl bounce
There's a few things I experienced with mine before I replaced the struts:
- if it bounces uncontrollably after going through a dip in the road
- if it has a nasty bounce about 60mph, and it won't stop until you slow down or speed up.
My rule of thumb is.. if you can read the manufacturer OEM wording on the shock, you're good to go. If all you see is rust, then get them replaced... but then again, my vast mechanical experience involved oil changes and nothing more.
100k miles = time to think about timing belt/tensioner spring/wp/cam seals. Timing belt & tensioner spring mostly the other stuff while you are there. Clean the egr too if any idle issues. 100k km = a little bit of time left for timing belt.............
Be a test subject for the Stagg struts. No promises on quality, but a couple guys on here have put them on over the past couple of months and liked them. Just know that there isn't really any info on how they hold up in the long run. Could be good though.
Mine are still original over 200K miles. A little oil always coats the top of each. But they're not overly bouncy - actually pretty darn stiff - maybe too hard? They've leaked for 3 years - is any leakage really considered OK?
Also, remember to inspect/replace the strut mount bearings above each strut if you do the job.
