Do 14" rims fit?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a set of civic HX rims to use as a set of summer wheels. I'm wondering if they will fit (they are 14"). I've heard mixed stories about people fitting 14" NB rims just fine but having clearance issues with the caliper with some other 14 inches. Anyone know? Thanks!

You really need to check each specific wheel. Spoke design, how deep the drop-center of the wheel is, and how thick it is will make one 14x6 be just fine, and another not fit at all. Check hub bore diameters as well.

Since it's a 14x5.5, and the offset is fairly high (IIRC 45) fitment would 100% depend on whether or not the spokes interfere with the caliper. They'll be pretty far "sunken" in though.

Bore shouldn't be an issue as the HXs have a slightly larger bore than the 54mm the 2 has. Offset is the same. Would it be worth it to get these rims then slap some ~5mm spacers on or would it be preferable to buy a different set of rims? I can get the whole set for 175, but with the added cost of spacers, I'm not sure if I'm better off just getting a better fitting set of wheels to begin with. Thanks for the help.

Spacers would probably help with fit but without actually trying nobody can say one way or the other. Its up to you to roll the dice and hope they fit or pass.

No offense, but why? If you had them from a previous project and had some great snow tires on them, then I could see the question...But to put a smaller diameter more narrow wheel with a skinny tire on an already tall car with a narrow track; you're not doing the cars handling any favors.

Your best bet if you really want 14" rims is to snag a set from either a Miata or a Protege. I had a set of VW GTI rims on my 90s Civic, but not sure if the GTI rims are a direct bolt on for the 2.

I'm just looking for a set of light and inexpensive wheels to use as a set of summer wheels. I'm open to other suggestions as well. I'd like to keep it under 250. Thanks for all the help so far.

I have 14" wheels when driving around because the extra compliance in the tire makes it more comfy when just driving around. Plus with low(er) grip it is more fun at normal road speeds.

Mine are the 14x6 wheels from my Miata.

Here's a pic I have of HX wheels that I had on for one autox with 195/45 tires. The wheels were super sunk and it didn't look good lol.

I've heard people have had clearance issues with the spokes hitting the calipers on the HX wheels and some other 14" wheels.

Also the Mirage ES comes with 14" wheels. You may be able to find a used/salvage yard set.
