DMCA violation and my internet have been disabled

Yeah, I had forgotten about Bay. They have been pretty quiet lately. I use "Peerblocker" and most of the BayTSP IP addresses are listed in there. If you did not share the file, you are pretty much safe. If you did then they can bust you for illegal distribution.

Also, just never a good idea to download popular new stuff. They don't worry as much about the old stuff.

gee...

a lack of understanding of basic copyright issues...and I'm the moron???

I could swear morons are the people who get caught downloading copyrighted material and have to resort to using their friends' or roommates' computers or ISP logons just so they could b**** about it.

I only stated the truth, but you had to flame me?

I know what the truth is, in fact i just hated when you repeated things I already know of.

what is Peerblocker? are they firewall? or similar to sygate firewall?

It is actually Peerguardian, sorry about the typo. It is a firewall but more of a reactive one. They let other people add IP addresses to a master list, but a lot of the major people (like BayTSP) have well know IP address ranges they have been using. They go after the easy pray unfortunately, and haven't started really bothering the people who protect themselves. The website for Peerguardian is:

http://www.methlabs.org/

Don't start thinking you are totally safe with this though, a lot of people have been jumping IP addresses quite often, to prevent stuff like this. I use K-lite and disable the ability of another user to list all the files I am sharing as well. This keeps the RIAA from coming after me, they don't know how many files I'm sharing and it would take them forever to find out.

Where did you study copyright law? I can tell you, that IN korea, there is little/none enforcement of copyrights -

I didn't say anything about enforment, I just talked about laws, enforcement is a totally different issue and up to the individual countries.

I realize it - I just don't care. It's NOT taking money out of their pockets. That's a bad analogy. That would imply they HAD the money in the first place. A better analogy is "It's like NOT giving a crying baby, a bottle". The RIAA and Metallica are the 'crying babies', and my hard-earned dollar is the bottle.

Talk about 'stealing' - Record labels have stolen more from artists than any amount of file-sharing.

Notice that I didn't say anything about what I thought of the record company,s practices and management, that is a totally different issue.
No matter whether you care about or not it still is stealing. If you make something, copyright or patent it and then someone else comes and makes copys of it and starts giving then away it is stealing under US law. Personally I don't care enough about having a copy of music any more to pay what the record labels charge for it so I don't buy it, but I don't steal it either.
I would not give a crying baby a bottle either, but that's cause I have one who just finished wanting bottles yast year and another who wants one right now  so I'll sign off now.:D

Can you answer my question? I'd like to know where you studied International Copyright law. Mentioning Korea was just a side note -

Never studied it any where, just what I have had to read up on on occasion.

Sort of, I had a Mazda MX-6 LS not the GT, sold it for a Rodeo for child transport. Is this Darin Pemberton?

Never mind I took a look at your web site, it is. Good to type at you again. You still have the GT or did you sell it off too?

You know the rules, you have to part it to make back the money you spent on it.:D

As i remeber it they track you using your IP address. So if you are using program that sends out you IP address then they can track you. I think Kazaa Lit (K++) hides you IP address.

There isn't really a way to hide your IP address, other than an proxy (then they just see your proxy server generating the traffic). As it is, all they have to do is run a trap of them downloading software and they can get all the IP addresses of the people distributing it.

Hey, what torrent site are you using to get your torrents? I was using suprnova.org, but it doesn't have the core. just wondering where you're getting your torrents.
