DIY Custom FMIC Installation

I still get the slight turkey and then whoosh, but before i would only get turkey, the bov wasnt blowing off at all. Try it and let us know what happens.

Never got a chance to take the spring out this weekend, stereo work got the best of me, and still didn't finish with everything. Anyway sometime this week, it will get done will let you know the results...

it looks ******* sick
actually, betetr looking than what i had

damn...you must have used more piping than the one sold on ebay

also, buying a longer ic would had been something i'd done since it would cover the whole grill...just for looks

all in all, looks ******* bad ass

tell me more about this Blow Thru MAF of urs....you never mentioned pricing or where to buy
also, try moving the BOV away form the MAF..you'll have better readings since there won't be so much turbolence from the BOV

keep it up dude

did you have to cut alot?

a "how:to" would had helped alot!!!

Thanks man. Yea i basically bought 2 of the ebay piping kits, i actually have some piping left over after doing the charge piping and the sri.

Now i do realize i could've gotten a longer intercooler, and i probably will sometime. I thought this one would fill up the hole perfect because of its dimensions overall(28x7x2.5) but i forgot to consider the shape of the end tanks/the inlets outlets. this one is doing fine for the time being, feels sooooo much better than the stock smic.

The maf is stock lol. Sorry, must have been a misunderstanding. From being in the mustang community "blow thru" is the term we use for a maf being on the pressure side of a turbo/supercharger. I should've said relocated maf. I havent had any issues with the bov and maf placement but i will consider moving the maf closer to the throttle body possibly.

The only thing(s) i had to cut were the passenger side splash shields/guards right there near the tow ring. I also had to slightly trim the fog light mounts on the edges to clear the piping on both the hot and cold sides.

thanks again

You brought up a good point, if any of you thinking about doing this yourselves would like a 'how-to' guide/instructions, i'd be glad to sit down one night and write one up containing pics and step by step, etc.. Just let me know ya'll. Thanks

Great job on the custom FMIC, I personally would have got the cold side welded together, seeing all those couplers under the hgood to ME doesn't go. But I like it anyway great job!

I just wish I had the time and majority the MONEY to do a FMIC, I like the Perrin FMIC routing but the core is too big.

Partial thread jack** DO you guys/ladies think if you get the same routing as the Perrrin FMIC but with a smaller core and have the endtanks just like the real Perrin will it effect the bend of the pipe? I'm sure it would but just want to get others thoughts.**

I'll see if i can put something together tonight. Would ya'll like me to do it all in here, or start a new thread?

Notorious V.I.C.-Thanks. I understand what you mean about all the couplers. Eventually i may get them welded up, but for the time being they're doing fine. Getting the pipes welded and a different FMIC will be in the future, but i dont think either are an issue right now(not enough boost/mods for them to be of a restriction). I still am very surprised that this ebay fmic(and piping/bov for that matter) has made considerable difference in power, maybe it's not too much of a pos??

Anyways, let me know if ya'll want me to keep the how-to stuff in here, or if ya'll want another thread. Thanks

I might have to try that spring trick on my RS... I have it set as loose as possible and the second I blow-off from being in boost I get a slight bit of turkey then the whoosh. I'll try this tomorrow and see if it works for me as well
Ok, I finally got a chance to do this... no more turkey at all. A slight high pitch sound right before the valve opens then whooosh

very nice. I'm still toying with mine some. i cant decide if i like the 1-2 turkey then whoosh, or just the whoosh. i guess i can just adjust it whenever i'm feeling frisky?

yeah I was playing with the setting a little last night as I was definitely leaking boost a little. Once I find the sweet spot it should be better. The turkey is bad for the car, I don't necessarilly mind the sound of it, it's definitely distinct and different from anything else I've heard. The whoosh is almost too plain for me, I may just sell the RS and get a new HKS flange welded and put on an SSQV...

FMIC looks real clean. Good job (rockon) Now change up that restrictive stock exhaust, I would suggest Vibrant 3".
