Dirty, dirty tailpipes...

On the upside, if you at least wipe them off every 500 miles or so, they dust off very easily. At least for me they do :)

From my observations, you get nice little "poof" clouds out the tailpipes when you get on it really heavy and run up the RPMs. You can usually see it out your rear view windows. I only seem to see it in lower gears...probably because the car isn't moving fast enough to blow all the smoke away fast enough...hence being able to see it.

As everyone has said... this car is tuned from the factory to run pig friggen rich. Even with my minor mods I get sub 11 A/F readings at WOT. This causes the dirty tailpipes. It's not a break in thing either... just use stainless steel cleaner and be sure to scrub liberally... adding a coat or two of durable sealant or wheel sealant will make it much easier to wipe this soot off the back.

+1

this is exactly what I did. Used a chrome/aluminium wheel polish on the tailpipes. You can practically blow the soot off of them. Very highly recommended.

You can run whatever gas in it you want to. It has knock sensors and will tune to suit. It runs best on high octane though.

Here's how I fixed my sooty tail pipe issue.....I stopped looking at it. done!

That and brake rotor dust. See sig for list.

OMG you weren't kidding! The dust on the MS6 was by FAR the worst i'd ever seen from a factory pad. It was so bad that it forced me to get RX-8 rims. Those MS6 rims were a PITA to clean every other day (yeah, the dust was that bad).
