Difference between Mazda3 and Mazda5 powertrain?

So are there any differences that you guys are aware of between Mazda3 and Mazda5 powertrains? For example ECU? Is it identical? How about the manual tranny? I have assumed that they are identical from powertrain perspective, is that correct?

Can we use hypertech modules that were tested and tuned for MZ3?

At this point you can't use the Hypertech modules. Even though the drivetrains are similar and electronics almost identical, the programmer will be looking for a specific vin that would identify the vehicle as a 3. If that vin code isn't there the programmer will not work. It is up to Hypertech to allow that function.

Until then I would contact dptune.com. They have the ability to reprogram the ECU in a 3 and should be able to do the 5 also. Theirs is more of a custom solution. I doubt we will EVER see anything from Hypertech even though the vehicles are virtually identical with regard to powertrain and electronics.
