Difference Between FS9 and FS6 Engine Stamp

Im getting ready to buy a fs engine from Canada and I was wondering what the difference in the engines from the FS9 and FS6. I own a 2003 MSP.

The fs6 is probably an earlier version casting.

the fs9 stamping is reference to the last major engine redesign/update done to the fsde. I believe the update included, larger ports, solid lifters, camshaft changes and a few other things. I can't remember exactly but there is a thread on here that does go over the changes that where made when the FS9 casting was made. Ill look for it and link it later

I was actually referring to the stamp on the engine that would say FS9...... or FS6... But after reading your post and looking at the heads they are the same as long as the back of the head says FS9. The engine stamp may say FS9.... or FS6.... or FS8... they are the same as long as the head says FS9
