old battery blew up and corroded the s*** out of the engine bay, so I stripped it down and treated it, then painted it.

looks pretty good. can hardly tell that anything ever happened. Did you use heat resistiant paint or is it just some regular body paint?

its reg paint , I figured thats what was on there before, the primer was a high heat mix though

Damn that was your stock battery? I think I'm going to get a new one now.

All I can say is wtf. Good job cleaning up though, good thing you did it ASAP.

yea it was the stock one, I strongly recomend an optima, and thanks about the compliments.
It really was a lot of work.

WOW that is nuts. I second the getting a new battery thing. I still have my stock one and Im on 47k miles. Considering I work at an auto parts store part time (OBVIOUSLY for the discount LOL) I really should just buy one.

Wow...never thought that was possible. Great job fixing it up...I feel for you though. Why the hell would that happen?

It happened to the race team I bought my spare engine and tranny from. The tranny got acid all over it when the race car blew/puked a battery. They said it was an alternator or voltage regulator problem and that the battery got too hot a charge. Either way, I got a steal on the tranny and have been working to polish the case, which will look killer when I'm done.

nice job... luckly for me my stock battery jus died, i bought a new one 2 weeks ago...

i had the same thing happen to me, acid corroded alot of stuff even my intercooler piping. i got some polish on there it helped a lil. yay for having a black mica msp i just primered the corroded spots on the body. optima redtop now ftw.

looks like a good clean up job.. what would make a battery explode?

alternator charged it too much, or too much parasitic loads.. damn that sucks.. it happened to a buddy of mine in my auto class. looks nice what u did already
